Too High Draft Keystoker Stoker?

Last year I ran my koker at .02 - .03 but for some reason this year the draft is averaging .04-.05 with a not too hot stove and no wind, The baro is limiting it as it should. The only thing I changed is closing the combustion fan shutter from 1/2 to 1/4. Could this cause the draft to increase?

Anyway, wondering also how high is too high a draft for a stoker? The baro was flying way open and the draft was hitting .07 at times.

My inexperienced idea would be to open your shutter a little more. I think I remember you saying you had a low draft when it was half open, so maybe you can find a happy medium between that and where you are now. If your draft can handle the extra air flow, great!!!, your coal will burn more efficiently and hotter. More air = more burn. While adjusting you shutter, you should see an almost immediate response from your manometer, so at least you don't have to sit around waiting too much.

Even though I have a good draft (knock on wood), right now my shutter is less than a quarter open. Once it gets consistently colder, I will open it up more.

I am not sure how high a draft is too high. I would try to stick with Keystoker's recommendation. They have their reasons for wanting a .025 on their kokers.

from my understanding Closing the shuttter for the combustion fan will increase the draft. Mine was set at 1/2 open from the factory but I am closing it little by little to increase my draft it is now up to .15 but I would like to see .02

Been running a week now with the shutter at 1/4 as before that it was at the default of 1/2.

Draft seems higher, flames not as high, stove about 100 degrees cooler and using little coal overall ....I like it!!

Probably will bring it back to the default when daytime temps get into the 40's.

jrn same thing here, I got mine down to 1/4 closed and am also down to 3 pins on the timer the front of my stove is down under 150 degrees and using very little coal now for these warm temps. I keep checking to be sure the fire hasnt went out but so far so good.
