Business Rebels Against Socialist French Governmnet

Business Rebels Against Socialist French Governmnet

Here we have yet another example of how Left Wing Ideologies destroy Nations. In the case it's France, I don't have much sympathy for them. They brought it on themselves. Then again you could probably say the same thing about us.
Want your Country to descend into poverty, chaos and misery, just adopt the philosophy of the Left.

Hope the last person to leave France turns out the lights. Anyone with any sense could see that a capital gains tax in excess of 60% isn't going to work. Kind of surprised that the story didn't mention the planned 75% top INCOME TAX rate the lefto pinko's in France have planned as well.

When will the left figure out that Socialism won't work and you cannot TAX a country into prosperity. You are right wsherrick. The people of France voted these nut cases in. Or more likely, just like in the US, less than 50% of the eligible voters actually voted.

If you ever dreamed of owning a little villa in France now may be your best bet.

Now don't read too much into my reply -- I am not pushing for such an extreme top tax rate. But remember that lefto pinko Republican President Dwight D Eisenhower instituted a 90% top rate in the 1950s, which remained in place for ten years or so. The country grew at a respectable rate during that period.

Very few paid that top rate. Did Ike institute that or was it left over from WW2?

One, as mentioned, not many people paid that rate.

And two, what was the state of the manufacturing sector around the world in the 50's after Germany, England, Italy, Japan, and Russia was bombed to rubble?

Manufacturing is a GREAT way to build wealth(the only way really) and we were the only country with the capability at that time.

For the last 20 years or so, we decided that instead of making things, we'd rather THINK about making things(the so called "knowledge" economy).

wsherrick- keep the articles coming! Read the comments from around the world below that article, interesting.
I heard a statement that The French love to hate the rich. Their stupid socialist policies have allowed so many third world muslims in to that country that their very cultural heritage is severely threatened. Same with Norway, why do you think Anders Brevik did what he did?

Funny, I was watching some Tom Brokaw documentary on the first days in France after D-Day. Some of the French risked their lives in a village near Carentan to help the allied soldiers recover their weapons and ammo from swamps. American paratroopers didn't even know if the invasion was successful. The Krauts counter-attacked and took back that small town initially. They executed priests, doctors, nuns, children, if they helped the allies. If they were caught helping the resistance the Germans summarily executed them.
I bet The Bamster would like to implement such severe repurcussions on anyone not adhering to his evil plans :D

What the heck is it with lie-berials in this country? They'll do or say anything to hold on to their idea that they're everybody's mommy.
They strut around with their pervasive sense of false altruism like the saviors of the human race, demanding that everything be perfectly equal for everybody, while enjoying the high standard of living in the USA. They jump to defend their enemies, insist that the planet will incinerate if everybody doesn't drive a Volt and have solar panels on their roof; all the while leaving a carbon footprint like everybody else. They demonize success and scream out, "SAVE THE EVERYTHING!"
Tree humpers spouting their dogma from inside wooden houses with wooden floors :P

It was even higher near the end of WW2, then dropped off 10 points, then back up to 91% in the early to mid 1950s.
True, very few paid that top rate. As far as I can tell, it applied to income in excess of $400,000. That would be equivalent to what, today? Maybe $30 million?
My point being -- as others are pointing out -- there were other things going on that influenced the overall prosperity and growth of the US. A high income tax on the rich is not the whole story by any means, then or now.

And the biggest mistake of the last 40 years is that we let it slip away.
What we need is a web site where we can enter any product name, and get an instant display of its domestic content. A way to help us "buy American".
But that's a whole other topic....

It was 93% during the Depression. Exactly ONE person paid it. And he was a Rockefeller. :)

The new French Prez not only wants to and is jacking taxes through the roof but he is also wanting to ban HOMEWORK for kids in school. The rational? Not everyone has parents at home to help them do homework, ergo it is unfair. The pandering is making me misty.........

Extra extra read all about it... http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ans ... d-reforms/
