efm 520 gooseneck bushing

Good afternoon,
Can anyone instruct me on how to remove old gooseneck bushing? It appears to me to be installed from the inside of the pot out as there is a ridge in the casting on the outside of the bushing that would prevent installation of the bushing from the outside in?????

Hey Jeff, you can drive it from the center of the pot towards the outside, the new one will go in the same way...inside towards outside. Get a piece of 1/2" iron pipe with the threads cut off one end, and put it in through the auger hole to drive the bushing.

Is the bushing just friction fit? Im guessing that the purpose of the bushing and worm is to stabilize the shaft while the worm keeps the coal from being jammed in there, is that correct?
I think that the unit was run without the bushing as there is some evidence of wear in the casting that looks like worm damage, Im sure that I can work around or fix it with jb weld or something. Thanx again for the help. When I get a little farther along Ill try to post pictures.

Jeff, if the bushing in the pot (and the one on the auger) get worn enough, the auger flights will wear against the pot. I don't think JB weld would last long, but I could be wrong.

The pot bushing is friction fit, the worm bushing is pinned in place.

While you are freshening things up, see if the cleanout plate fits tight.
