Hi there,

I just picked up a DF520 with an S20 stoker serial number 93736. I was wondering when is built and who is was sold to?

Thank You,

I have to dismantle it and remove it from its current location. Can two guys pick up the boiler section or should I get a third?

Thanks

The boiler is about 850 lbs. plan on lifting it with a chain hoist or some other mechanical means.

The top section, the boiler alone is 850lbs? I guess I'm going to have to knock out a wall to get it out of the boiler shed.

yea... its heavy.

Its handy to have an engine hoist to lift it off the base.

Use iron pipes to roll it on hard surfaces etc.

Agreed, don't cut any corners to "save time". It is very heavy.

Any suggestions on where to lift it from? Are there any threaded holes for lifting eyes? I also considered maybe removing the plugs from the return passages and using short pieces of 2" black iron to wrap a sling around.

Get a nipple that will thread into the big tapping on the boiler top, and drill/torch holes in the nipple so you can put a pin or hook through it.

Plan B for using the big tapping is to bush it down to a reasonable size and make a tee with black pipe nipples. Those pipes with holes in them make me nervous (though I've never heard of anyone having a problem using them).

Your stoker was sold to Elkay De Merchant on 11-7-1984. Matched with boiler #35885. Sounds like a French name, possibly in New England.
