We haven't had a free market in at least a century if we ever did.

I don't care that Romney made a lot of money, I just have no confidence that he will allow anyone else to do the same.

Wouldn't be any good now but might have helped then, you'll also notice that there were so many exclusions added that we will never know if it had a chance or not. At the very least it was a plan, unlike the secret 5 point plan that says what it will hopefully do but fails to mention any hows. Now today I heard he had a secret meeting with a group of gays ( log cabin somethings) & walked away with an endorsement from them for a promise of a future draft pick, the man is good at promising everything to everyone.

I'm pretty sure Castro didn't put in any loopholes and it didn't work out so well for most Cubans.

Wage and price controls don't work, have never worked, and will never work. Not today, not in the 70's nor any time in the past or future.

OK Jpete I get the point that you don't like it but I will say that Castro had a bit of a problem with even getting supplies for some odd reason, not at all like the U.S..

How does having access to supplies make anything different?

If you can only charge $10,000 for a car that costs $20,000 to produce, it won't take long before supplies dry up. No blockade needed.

And if people only make $10,000 a year, no one is buying cars anyway.

That the words "wage and price controls" rolled off your tongue in any manner other than derisively tells me you don't understand how the economy functions and you really shouldn't be offering opinions. Someone might take you seriously.

Well maybe you haven't, but I participate in a free market every day and so do millions of other Americans.

Fine, why don't you vote for Roseanne then.

Isn't that odd, I thought you were a proponent of the Constitution and the first Ammendment.

You think you participate in a free market, but you don't. There are government controls on every portion of the market. They even have Sam's price controls on many things. It's working out wonderfully isn't it?

And isn't it odd that you say you follow the Constitution but don't know that it limits the GOVERNMENT, not the PEOPLE.

Congress can't make a law preventing Sam from talking about things he only marginally understands but I, thankfully, am under no such requirement. And I was just making a suggestion. I haven't prevented him from saying anything.

C'mon Sam. You don't hesitate to tell me what you think, why would you expect any different treatment?

You and Dan don't want a discussion anyway. You just want to argue. I'm just giving you what you want.

Think so?

OK, let's go with facts.

Is a government mandated minimum wage a "wage control"?

Is a government mandated milk price a "price control"

Is a government mandate to use only Federal Reserve Notes as "money" that has it's "price" arbitrarily controlled both a wage AND price control?

How about a law that says even if you REFRAIN from entering the market you are affecting the market and therefore the government can control transactions that haven't occurred?

Maybe you and Dan can explain to me how all that and more adds up to a "free market". Or we can go back to calling each other names. Your choice.

Not to escalate, it's the undecideds that will have an impact on the outcome. Your choice, social justice nanny state or return to prosperity.

Sometimes, sure, yet you keep on arguing too.

Maybe you prefer Russia or China or Venezuela. Name one government control that restricts me in any way from doing business as a sole proprietor of my handyman service.

Do you use Federal Reserve Notes in that handyman business?

Do you pay the government for the right to work?
