We are going through the worst of the winds now 50 MPH with gusts I hate to guess but the rain is not too bad. Lights flickering so I am not hopeful. The Jotul 507 just blew out as in not now alight - no smoke in the room just out. Not sure of the cause but new owner stupidity is top of the list of suspects. We really don't need heat now.

Hoping.

Wait a minute here b4 I sign off, I propose that the one match club should have a clause about hurricane force gusts.

We where at Martinsville Racetrack over the weekend. We left last nite "Sunday" at 8:30 P.M. Drove for 2 hours, got on 81 sat for 1.5 hours without moving more than a few feet. That ended we drove 1.5 more hours, slept for 5 hours in the trailer, and boy what a ride today 81 to 84 to 87 to Albany NY. That storm chased us the whole way! The wind gusts where incredible pushing the rig like nothing I ever saw. Thank God we are home safe and sound.

I'm pretty sure quakes like that are constantly happening everywhere, If I recall it has to be a 3 or 4 magnitude to feel it.

As of this post I have seen stronger wind and more rain than this storm has given us. I don’t know if the worst is behind or yet to come. If the worst is past we made out pretty good. Power still on. Satellite TV and satellite internet still work. I am glad I don’t live by the ocean, they got hammered.

I like those weather people on TV, “look at me walk down these flooded streets. This is very dangerous, don’t try this at home, we can do it because we are professionals.”

Sierra, glad you arrived safely.

Winds are picking up here, I was out on the enclosed porch and a gust came through that sounded like a freight train ! May be starting to get serious around here soon, still with utility power here at the house.

Last I heard MD has over 134k without power and east coast has over 3 million without power over 11 states.

Not much happened around here. A few big gusts, a few small branches down, and a little over an inch of rain so far. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, in MA it's only a crisis if Boston is affected. Nobody exists west of 495.

Another post powered by YAMAHA. :D We're always the first to lose it, and the last to get it back. But that's life in the country. I'll take this life any day over an hour in any shitty ... errr ...... city. ;)

Power finally went off here around 8 PM, on generator power now, but that gets shut off when I go to sleep. It seems quieter outside right now, but the wind gusts come and go. Scanner has been nonstop all evening with trees and wires down calls.

So down here near Phila. our Gov decided to close all the major highways around Phila until 2:00 AM. All the major interstates.

I'll bet that pissed off quite a few truckers and shipping companies.....

Of course it may have been prudent to prevent these wind gusts from toppling them over but really, shutting down commerce ????
I'm sure the smart guys found out the routes around Phila. in fact I usually use them all the time so I don't have to deal with that traffic.

Rick

They closed school here today and tomorrow, tomorrow seems reasonable but it didn't do anything here until late in the afternoon. The wind is really picking up now.
