Sam...very sorry to hear about your dog. As mentioned it is the last humane and responsible thing we can do for them when they get that bad and it is a tough decision on the proper timing. The next thing to do is look for a shelter dog. Not as a "replacement" but to provide a rescue home for another as a tribute to the loyalty the last one showed to you.

I second that sentiment sam. I know how hard it is to do what you had to do but you can know that it was the right thing and you "helped" avoid unnecessary suffering. I lost me house cat of 16 years and after a month, I went to the shelter near me and found two excellent cats (Mom and her 6mo old guy) that deserve a good home. They are loving this big old place and patrol it many times a day. They bring allot of laughs too and have helped me to put Slim to rest.

Thanks to all those that expressed comfort, I have two other dogs already & from the sounds of it I may be getting an In-Laws dog shortly, she adopted one that they said was a Cock-er Spaniel, then when she took it back for more shots it turns out to be a Newfoundland. It's gonna get too big for her place so it may just come here, if not I'll be sure to get another we get quite a few 3 dog nights around these parts.

Ha,ha,ha, that's a good one! Those Newfies are a great dog, awesome swimmers, soft mouths. Kim's wanted one for a long time. They are huge though! Imagine having one in the canoe! :o
