Lost power for 96 hours, cable/internet just got back on. Ran the generator non-stop for 4 days, the oil was black, just changed it. Last year when we had that wind storm, i posted pictures of my chicken coop which got driven into the ground by a fallen tree. This year, had a pine about 80ft fall and missed the new coop by 1 foot and missed the shed by 6 inches. Many many power and light bucket trucks and wood chipper trucks driving all directions here. All the leaves had already fallen and pine trees were hit bad. The trucks coming down this road were MASTEC and i think they had N.C. plates on them. Flaggers came then a bucket truck for each pole with broken wires. Very organized and once they started we had power back in about 5 hours.

Didn't think that Utility Company and Organized could be used in the same sentence. That's like military intelligence. Wish there was some semblance of organization here in Jersey. It's the damned apocalypse and I haven't seen anyone working on the electric.

Wife went to the store and encountered a JCP&L asshat handing out coupons for water. Glad I wasn't there. I'd of put a boot up his ass.

Dudes, thx 4 replies! Frazzled but have 2 laugh. I saw a broken oak branch here way up in the tree that has been there since Irene, it just made me crack up, the irony. The carved bear fell on his face and when I picked him up just his nose wet, just struck me as so funny. The customer had her generator exhaust pointed into the house, I told her to turn the generator around. I was checking her pressuretrol and she alost touched the 22O! I must be hysterical hahahaha people are so stupid hahaha

Sucks to lose a pine like that...worst part is you cant even burn the wood. At least when you lose a hardwood, it makes good firewood. Though you could probably get some good planks out of it for flooring.

coal stove working good with new firebox. tree men came with massive crane to get tree off neighbor's house. we have 4 big trees leaning toward other neighbor- tree guy quoted me 3 grand, cant even deal with that now. hey Fred thanx for the ultra-lite smokes might as well smoke air thru a straw. ha another day of mad max world- gotta go do leaf cleanup 4 a lady happy 2 have some work. 2 guys got busted stealing gas cans right out of a yard- hang 'em i say! put a chain on our gen. landlords annoying but they did travel 4 gas yesterday, have enough to feed the roaring beast 4 now.

I bolted my generator to the deck a few years ago using an eye bolt that I welded (poorly) closed and a cable lock. It's one of those cable locks they claim can't be cut. Not sure how true that is. Never got curious enough to try.

I've been locking my gas in the basement and then disconnecting the generator and locking it's little shed when I'm going out for more than an hour. But then again, everyone in my lake has a generator anyway since we lose power when someone sneezes or looks at the wires wrong. Just wish I had more gas, this god damned odd even thing is pissing me off. My truck has an even plate but it's bingo on fuel. I told my wife worst case, take one of the cans from the generator and pour it in the truck, then take it and the can and fill both.

Oh, it went good. We hit maybe 14 houses before she got tired and kept saying, 'Hold me, hold me.' I did make the mistake of parking the car near a house that had a swing set and some other stuff on the side property. She had it in her mind that we were there to play on the stuff and she got upset when I said we couldn't because they didn't belong to us. Overall it was fun. We went and saw some friends we hadn't seen in a long time. After we were done she was going through her little bucket on the ride home and throwing the things that she didn't like to the front of the car for my wife and I to have. Every time she'd throw something she'd go, 'Don't like this!'. My wife was getting mad at her but I was laughing cause I thought it was cute.

Voted this morning, said God bless America out loud as I left. Almost cried thinking about our country. Then went to hardware store, 27 bucks for a gas can, one to a customer. Got perf pipe 3 inch to put in french drain. Went to HD- armed guards in there! Not one extension cord left. Stoneyard was up & running. Gas stations starting to open, lines not as bad. Truck made it home with a load of gravel. Sealed a vent on a neighbors roof and went to do yard work. Picked up some tree work from the guy across the street. He heard pse&g ran out of telephone poles! Looks like another week of this at least.
