How to streamline voting

My very latest good idea to streamline voting and save a lot of money:

Establish a web site where anyone can sign on and specify exactly how he will vote on every candidate and every other ballot issue.

Match each voter by computer – sort of like computer dating – with a person who would exactly negate his vote. Those two would be automatically flagged to election officials as having already voted, since the practical effect of both voting would be nil.

A smarter computer program could combine many, many people to exclude large groups who collectively offset one another one-hundred percent.

Come election day, the country would have been narrowed down to just a few voters who actually need to go to the polls. Probably all the rest of the states could stay home, and a total of about 7 people in Florida would need to cast a ballot. It being Florida, six would be disqualified for various reasons.

So if we can find that one remaining person in Florida, think of all the trouble it would save the rest of us! And if we could get him or her to do early voting, we would be done by mid-October.

I like the idea of being done in mid-october...just think of the money to be saved!!

Except the lost TV ad revenue would cause a drop in salaries for all the talking heads and we certainly can't have that.

I know I would welcome the lack of noise the house phone has been making. MD has an expanded gambling referendum on the ballot that has both sides making calls and spending $ millions.

What if someone hacked the system?


How about: Just use paper ballots (or electronic machines that print a paper ballot) and leave a paper trail.


Or keep both parties out of the ballot/voting process completely with a standardized system instead of the patchwork crap we have from state to state now.

Hey wait a minute, my wife is working the polls for the big bucks & too boot I get to do anything I want today. As long as it's OK with her.

We need a good system for voting online... How many more people would vote if it was that easy?? How many people are tired after work and can't stand the thought of standing in line to vote or don't have a way to their voting station?? I'm embarrassed to say that I wanted to vote today and found out my voter registration was null.. All I can do now is hope that Romney wins...

Just increase early voting and weekend voting. That would increase turnout significantly. Or make Election Day a national holiday where everyone is off work.
