The republicans lose the PR and propaganda war, and they have been for a long time. The democrats frame the issues and the republicans sit around saying that "that attitude is not productive" or some such nonsense in response to the democrats' attack; while the republicans are running around lost, reading Beckett, the democrats are reading Sin Tzu, and the democrats are winning.

From a Christian point of view, a very good argument could be made for the Republican side of things, where we are to toil hard, have an honest scale and to work to produce more money through business and agriculture. That is well documented in the bible...

But a very good argument could be made for the Democratic side of things, that even borders on socialism, where the bible speaks of helping your neighbor, treating your neighbor like yourself, and pooling resources to help one another.

I tend to side on the more conservative side, for one very important reason, and that is not because a Republican is any more American or Christian then a Democrat...I do not believe that...but because the liberal side prevents a very serious stumbling block to what I know what is right, and that is God provides our provisions. It is very easy to be handed necessities and to give it a benefactor name other than God; the government gave me a check for my food for this week, or Obama signed an Act that give me free health insurance, or my fuel assistance (coal of course ) came from the Governor...None of that is true;

What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

I would love to claim that last paragraph, but actually you just read the bible; Mathew 6: verses 30-33 written in The Message, a contemporary bible.

I think many people today truly feel that President Obama is the savior of this economic collapse, this country...and from my trip to Ireland and other countries...of this world. That is just not the case. He is being used by God, and my role...even if I did not vote for him...is to pray for him in leading this country.

Very well said! Prayer is a show of support for the broader things that this leader will do as God guides him!

I guarantee advocating prayer isn't going to be the common ground you're looking for.

That's funny when I talked to GOD he told me to forget any prejudices & vote for Obama.

Not advocating prayer! Advocating support for our leader...in what ever form one chooses, with some "hopeful" common ground!

Nothing at all wrong with that NM, I was always under the impression that that was what they all swore an oath to do but I guess $ & special interests put that all on the back burner.

Samhill...our country is "out of sorts" and has been for more than just the past 10 years! We all want jobs, to do well in life, and retire in an affordable community! Regardless of how we get there, it NEEDS to be common ground that gets us to our destiny. Unfortunately, the sickness of division in this country has spread like a plague and blaming someone for it not the answer! It will never be a Utopia, but we do need to move forward in a meaningful and progressive manner as one nation!

It's actually really simple to get back there. Remember how we got there? The most prosperous and industrious nation in the HISTORY of mankind?

I agree...but the left and right in this countries leadership need to work together to ensure this happens...otherwise its going to be a "stalemate" as it has been for the past 12 years

What's your stance on gold for money and the American Empire?

We should have never got rid of the gold standard. But now, there isn't enough physical gold to cover A TENTH of our debt .....

As far as The Empire ... not sure what you mean by that ... but I assume your referring to the military being all over the world. On that I have to plead a John Kerry - that means I've been FLIP-FLOPPING on that issue. I now think we should have all our troops here at home dealing with our border and helping out during natural disasters. If someone wants to screw with us, then we unleash the fury. But until then, we stay put.
