George W Bush - The last Republican President.

One thing that may save us is the domestic oil and gas industry. We have a lot of oil right here lots more than Saudi oil.

The problem will quickly become a shortage of water to process the oil sands/shale oil...but yes, we are projected to be self-sufficient by 2025-2030 due to massively increased drilling, new technologies to recover oil in existing fields and better fuel efficiency.

The water issue will be pretty tough though...given that there is already water rationing in those same areas that the oil is.

No such thing as a free lunch afterall.

I live in the Nat gas area. So far water is good. All the same I am going to keep a positive outlook no matter who is masterbater and cheif. But if it turns to crap I will be ready as well.

I meant out West in the Bakken Formation area where the ranchers already have issues getting enough water without increased usage for the slurry they use in the fracking process. The secondary concern of cross-contamination of ground water wasn't in my mind at the time. From what I've read, its a very water-intensive process and West is pretty dry overall.

Though I agree completely, overall, I'm quite optimistic about it.

I'm not sure if it was Jindal or who it was but the comment was made the Republicans have to stop being the "stupid" party, what they were referring too was the comments like the one about women having a defense mechanism against rape. If the Republican party expects to remain relevant it has to move more towards the center on the moral issues. It's not fiscal conservative message that is dragging them down.
