Hello All,

Just curious...Is there any underground mining operations in PA anymore or is it all strip mining?

Also, I seem to recall a post a few years back that had a link to the current mining operations in PA and the type of mining they are doing. Does anyone have that link?

Thanks for any info.

Neal

Here is a list I found somewhere on a state website. It is a list of active permits. By looking at the list I see some mines that I know for a fact are closed but maybe the permit is still active, I duno. There also appears to be some repetition. Because I do not understand the permit process I suspect that multiple permits may be held or required for a single mining site.

Interesting list, maybe some names will be familiar, other than that it is just a list.

It comes from the state so I don’t think there is any copy protection keeping me from sharing it here.
