What will obama's war on coal mean for us?

PostBy: Canaan coal man On: Sat Nov 10, 2012 9:55 am

Im a first time coal burner this year and so far Love it.
Im very happy with my stove and plan on useing coal as long as I can.
Will newly imposed coal regulations bother us little anthracite burning guys, or are these for the big powerplants?
Could the price of coal Go way up with taxes? Im kinda worried that I wont be able to afford my new favorit fuel
In the next 5 years!

The price of anthracite will go way up because China and the rest of Asia needs massive amounts of it to produce steel, and they don't seem to care how much it costs.

Ccm, we're all playing the wait & see game as usual. I'm in contact w/our senators & our governor about this coal scare. Don't fall into the negativity pit, some are way to comfortable there. BOREING--Do what you can on your end--yep, that takes people gettin off thier ass's & making noise in the appropriate places.

For me, I plan on putting a reserve pile of black rocks close by. Enough for at least 5 years.

It'd be nice if we could all do that George--I don't think that approach would help the coal industry at this point at all. But, YES, it would surely help those that could do it.

I agree it won't be easy, I will have to borrow to complete it. I was planning on it anyway. Had to buy local coal this year and I'm not as happy with it. One TT load won't help or hurt anyone. But it will put me at ease for a bit.

That would be nice to have over a five year reserve in my back yard as well,
But theres no way a tt load is in my bugget right now. So im stuck with buying it in year to year amounts.

Obama and the EPA are trying to kill Bit coal and power plants that use it. Given that the bulk of anthracite is used for home heating by those of us who are loyal coal burners (but a fraction of total production) and for making steel or using in water filtration systems, I don't think anthracite coal production will go under. Not sure what price direction it will take, but given that it's almost as clean burning as natural gas, hopefully the Bamster   and his socialist cronies  won't target anthracite like they have Bit coal.

That said, I have 12-2400# skids of coal on pallets at my farm, all covered by tarps. That's my 4-5 year usage and I plan on having enough on hand when I want it. :D :D

I am expecting about the same from Obama as we have had the last 4 yrs. NOTHING which in this case is a good thing. Its the EPA we have to worry about and with the economy in the crapper you won't see much from them. They don't have enough people to police the Gas and oil industry right now.
