Large ammo purchase by odd branches of government

Homeland security has ordered 450 MILLION rounds of ammunition. Thats enough for a war. Thats not it though. The national oceanic and atmospheric administration (NOAA) (the weather guys)ordered 45,000 rounds of ammo. They claim it's for the fishery department. Not odd enough yet? Social Security ordered 175,000 rounds of ammunition. What do they need it for? Hitler is gearing up to take over the fatherland. I'm starting to get afraid.

Shocking as this may sound, Border Patrol agents are armed and need to qualify at the range regularly...and keep up their proficiency. DHS buys a ton of rounds as a result of this. A bunch of other law enforcement agencies fall under DHS including Secret Service for example.

So do Fisheries guys that enforce maritime law.

And hollow points are standard law enforcement issue so they dont go through the person they're aiming at and hit the innocent people behind them or go through the walls and hit someone. I mean seriously, get a grip with the conspiracy theories.

Thats old, I think its up to 20 now.

I saw this in a online news report (because the mainstream media somehow misses these things ..) a while back. While researching that, I came across a Youtube video from a while back that someone shot of a gigantic stockpile (by the government) of plastic coffins. You could fit at least 4 adult bodies in each one ... and there were ACRES of these things stacked 15' high. They're definitely planning for something ....

I'll take a stab that it's for when the economy finally collapses. Should be soon ...

As much as I like to run with a good conspiracy theory, I often wonder if this is just more typical government spending.

My high school history teacher told us about one time when he was in the Army and it got to the end of the year, they realized they hadn't spent their whole budget so they ordered 50 Jeeps and when they were delivered, they took a backhoe, dug a trench and buried the Jeeps because they didn't need them.

It's just that if they didn't spend all the money, they wouldn't get as big a budget as next year.

And that kids, is why we can't have nice things.

Or they're the ones CDC purchased years ago to prep for a pandemic event...like a repeat of the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic. Unless, of course, you'd prefer highly infected bodies to rot in the street?

I somehow think that if one were planning a massive conspiracy that involved the murder of hundreds of thousands of citizens, they'd hide the caskets a bit better than an open field.

Not true at all, That would be frangible ammo and we are talking about .40 S&W here. It is in no way designed to not go through walls. Customs, Fisheries, and other gov. agencies do not work in domestic environments like the town or city cops. And they do not need anywhere near this amount of ammo. Law enforcement only "qualifies" once a year that I know of. Lets take NM fisheries for instance. They only have a handful of guys literally on the whole coast and Customs does not have more then 50 probably. So why did they send 40 or 50 million rounds into Scarborough, Maine? The Coast Guard does not have enough guys to bring them up to needing this much ammo. The local Navy base where I grew up didnt have a fraction of this in the armory.

Actually, lets put that into a different perspective. If EVERY law enforcement official of all branches, local, state, and federal shot 100 rounds a day it would take 1095.89041 men to shoot up 40 million rounds in a year. Now there are that many for sure, but not federal agents. And I am talking about Maine. But I am not sure there are that many feds in New England. Remember, this is not the military and saying that, the Coast Guard is precluded from using hollow point ammo also, so they are out of the equation. And I can assure you that not one law enforcement guy I know want to fire 100 full power defense loads in a day let alone everyday. Besides, that takes some time and they have other things to be doing. They shoot very little.
Bottom line, combined with all the other purchases sent all over, it is very unusual.
