Hard to believe, it defies all my logic and reasoning. Just simply beyond my comprehension! I must be a fool with a simple mind, can't understand this without burrowing deeper into depression over the outcome. I really don't think we will see a Republican president for twenty or more years when a newer, less conservative generation of Republicans come along. The ethics, morals and values that I practice and appreciate, are old-fashioned and out-of-style with the changing demographics. Conservatism, whether it be social or fiscal, is dead and I have no choice but to look inward, to my own family, and share and teach my values to my kids and hope they grow to share my beliefs.

You mean the guy last lost to McCain in 2008 still doesn't have enough people that like him? Shocking!

Maybe that's why we had to go through 12 candidates in the primaries before they settled on RINO Romney.

Herman Cain was a "front runner" before Mitt. That ought to say something.

The grueling, financially devastating primary is one of the main reasons that Mitt Romney ultimately lost the election. Romney had to spend months and months raising money that was spent against other like-minded, but subtly different candidates than himself. This cost him valuable time that was needed to campaign and win supporters and eventual voters. The primary process itself may have to be changed when challenging an incumbent, its too long and exhausting and only benefits the other party.

I don't believe Mitt had any trouble coming up with the dough.

And the primaries are where you have the opportunity to win over the base.

He didn't, or couldn't do that. He was such an abject failure, he had to steal the convention that was supposed to be his coronation ceremony.

There wasn't a hope in hell he was going to win this race.

I'm not a Republican, but in my opinion Newt's intelligence level and understanding of the issues runs circles around Romney's. I can't believe the Republicans nominated a Socialist who was merely masquerading as a NeoCon (I.E. Fascist), when instead they could have nominated a real NeoCon (I.E. Fascist) with a brain.

Since Obama was a lock, how many Democrats voted for Romney in the primaries across America? The Democratic fence jumpers in the primaries got McCain nominated in 2008, and I'm convinced that they got Romney nominated in 2012 also.

In my opinion, the other candidates had less of a chance than Romney. I liked Ron Paul, Herman Cain and especially Rick Santorum. Can you imagine how few votes Ron paul would have gotten, maybe two-thirds what Romney had gotten. I'm not sure about Rick Santorum, he may have done better than Romney but we will never know.

Maybe Ron Paul would have gotten more? All the "anybody but Obama" people would have voted for him if he was the nominee. What were the FOX News types going to do? Vote for Obama? Not likely.

But Romney's treatment of the RP people at the convention likely cost him the race.

Frankly, few true conservatives exist with real credentials, Pat Buchannan and Charles Krauthammer come to mind as leaders of this endangered group. The conservative philosophy is as ancient as the pyramids and crumbling just as quickly. Conservatism is common sense, a primeval instinct to conserve your social and fiscal resources. Conservatism is self-preservation, not preservation of inefficient people, places and things. Conservatism is like coal, burns deep within your soul, but extinguished by liberal ideology and atheistic, tolerant pacifists that tread on others but cry to be fed by the treasure of others. There was a time before social security and government hand-outs of various kinds, just look at the census records of your family, the truth lies in the branches of your family tree.

Why on earth are Republican and Democratic Presidential candidates voted for by the people in "primaries"? Doesn't that make their respective Presidential Conventions into totally meaningless farces and phenomenal wastes of money? Conventions used to have real meaning. The Libertarian Convention still has meaning. They still do it the old fashioned way.

Because people got sick of the massive corruption inherent in the Party Machine/Caucus system...It might be hard to believe but the Primary process is a huge step forward from that. Unless, of course, you'd officially prefer to go back to a system where a couple Party Bosses choose the nominee with zero input from anyone else.

I thought the way it used to work was that the convention delegates ultimately chose their candidate. Lets face it, the Republican machine pretty much selects the candidate now anyway. They get Fox News to poo-poo, humiliate, and/or totally trash any real candidates (I.E., outsiders), or they find and expose things whereby to destroy them (as with Herman Cain), so in the end their chosen boys from among the "short list" are the only players left.

I was thinking that if the Republicans elected their candidate at a Convention, that would circumvent the charade of having the Democrats select the Republican nominee from among the short list that the establishment back room boys within the party have pre picked to begin with. Just trying to help you guys who are in agony out here, so next time the best NeoCon wins, and not the most ridiculous NeoCon.

Larry, point a finger at Karl Rove, not Fox News as a whole. A civil war is about to erupt in the Republican party and Karl Rove may be the first casualty. I just started reading news articles about the election, I still have not watched one minute of Fox News since election night.
