thermal circulation in one zone return

Its alive after a week of late nights the new efm boiler is running I am now an official girlie man and the house is nice and cozy
I will post pictures as it is quite the instalation looks like a nuclear proulsion system but here is the question
I have 1 1/2 "main and return line with 1 1/4 loop to first floor cast iron radiators and 3/4 lines to second floor zones the 3/4 zones have flow checks in grundfos circulators and seem to be fine but the 11/4" zone is thermal loping on the return line
should i just put flow check on this zone or can I put 1 1/2 " flow check on the return trunk line will this make other zones not flow properly

You want the flow checks to be independent of each other. So the flow check has to go on the 1-1/4 return line. Congratulations on the install. It's nice to have one's efforts rewarded.

Ideally you should put a Flow Check valve on the return and supply to stop any gravity flow from happening even if it's only within the pipes because that is heat loss which will drive up fuel usage even if it doesn't over heat a zone. below is a example of my flow check setup for one 1 1/2" zone and two 1" zones and a 1" bypass.

no ithink that i suported my local plumbing supplier for a little while , but my wife is loving the fact that it is very comfortable in the house. I no longer have to get up and restart a fire in the handfired boiler every day so I am really enjoying the stoker. Have to install flocheck on return line ,one more zone to hook up upstairs and then the new slab in the basement and this project will be done
