Flying the flag upside down was used in World War Two to show other naval vessels that a ship was captured by the enemy and to not be fooled and tricked into their own capture. I do not believe we are headed down the right path in this country, and as such I did not want 4 more years of a direction I do not believe in, but we are still a country...under attack...yes...but certainly not overpowered yet, under another authority (other then God) or have the yen as a currency.

WHEN my home is taken over, and it no longer has the morals, principals and bible proudly sitting on the kitchen table, the side table and on every bedside stand in our bedrooms, and the currency I use no longer says "In God we Trust", only then will I will then fly my flag upside down to warn others this home is occupied by a hostile force, but NOT UNTIL THAT OCCURS! More then likely, the rapture will occur by then, and this home will be unoccupied. Please forgive me if I do not take the time to put my flag upside down before that happens...it is that whole "twinkling in an eye" thing!

Thought bout doing upside down and half staff the day after the so-called elections, but I couldn't do it. I can't use old Glory as a toy for my emotions I guess.

The only way THIS home will be occupied by a hostile force is if I am a corpse. "Take bullets in your chest, but NEVER in your back!"

But I agree. No up-side-down flag flying. My grandpa, God rest his soul, would give me a good whooping if he knew I did that. He quit college and left a wife and 5 kids at home to be a foot soldier in WWII. He saw things he could never talk about, and earned himself many medals including the Bronze Star and the U.S. Army Combat Infantry Badge. He never received them until he was an old man, and even then was very hesitant to accept them. I remember looking at them and telling him I wanted to earn those medals too. He looked at me and said, "No you don't son, no you don't..."

Medical issues kept me out of the service. There is hope for my 3 sons though.

And that my young friend is what makes this Country "The home of the brave & the land of the free"

Yeah my thought on the subject is, that guy served - he has earned the right to do with the flag as he wishes. If I were to do that, I'd expect, and DESERVE, a slap upside the head from a vet.

I understand what you are saying, but at the same time I am sort of glad that we can't.

I say that because it is so nice to see people so passionate about their country. I have had talks with people on both sides of the debate and it is really interesting to have good conversations about the future of our country.

The Supreme court ruled that putting an American Flag in a toilet and putting it on display is considered art, and people have the right to do so, so I fully appreciate that people have the right to fly a flag upside down. They have their right to express how they feel. Myself, I see us at a cross roads...but not overtaken yet.

I do not have access to the national media in my home so these topics are news to me...I never knew some people felt so strongly that they had to fly their flag upside down.
