Go to Tractor Supply or simular. Buy one of them screw in the ground auger type anchors. Cut the auger off. Now you have a 5/8 rod, with eyelet on one end. Heat the opposit end with torch, and hammer flat. Makes for a GREAT coal poker, for little money.

Wait a minute, I thought this post was about something totally different. What the hell is wrong with me???????????????? Orrrrr, you could just hit a bunch of yard sales (kinda late in the season) or go through an old barn or two--except for the long one--that one I made. All those tiles are 2"X2"

I've made several over the years, mostly for wood stove, but for coal too. I use 3/8" round rod as it is lighter than 1/2" yet does the job well. Here's a sketch of how I usually make them. If I knew the style & dimensions that you need I'd be glad to ship one up. I'll bet I could have one in your hands for less than $17.50. Your choice of any color so long as it's black.Beanbuzz wrote:I know, just make one

Plan B would be great!. Anywhere around 36in. give or take would be fine. The color choices are kind of overwhelming, but I have decided on black. Just let me know where to send payment. Thankyou and all others who have responded.Freddy wrote:I've made several over the years, mostly for wood stove, but for coal too.
