I did read what you wrote.

Maybe you should write what was said during that conversation you had in your head that I'm not privy to.

Where exactly did you say the low paid workers would be let go first?

You really think it's cheaper to lay off a low paid worker and pay the penalty to lay him off plus the extra tax to support the welfare queen so you can employ the welfare queen?

Never mind. I don't want to know what goes on in your head. It's way to convoluted.

Once again you put your own spin on everything, if you would take notice I stated what people write not what I wrote, if you go back or pay attention I think it was MCB. For some reason you seem to just jump in with certain people (not only me) & your soul objective is to discredit them or anything they write, why not just realize that everyone (maybe anyone) does not think like you & add too rather than just disrupt?

You do realize that there is already a penalty paid by employers to lay people off right?

You think maybe Microsoft is going to get rid of some software engineers and pick up a few welfare queens?

You live in a world I don't even recognize Sam.

No, they'll just fire all their high-priced US workers and farm the work out to India...or they'll bring over 3-4 software engineers from India on H1B work visas and pay them less combined than they were paying the 1 American worker.

I used to work for a medical software company and they did this exact thing over and over and over again.

Thanks for answering a question no one asked.

That's what they do now.

The question is whether they will fire all the workers and hire people on welfare.

Why would they fire people when there are already jobs that need to be filled? That's a completely asinine argument. Also, the current welfare to work programs already do that sort of job placement (filling vacancies and helping train people on welfare for those positions). Nobody is being fired to help a so-called "welfare queen".

That's what Sam claims will happen if you force people to work in order to receive benefits.

I agree with Sam. It could easily be done by a company under the guise of reorganization, streamlining, consolidation business strategy.

There are very few dumb labor jobs in this country anymore. I have certainly found that companies want seemingly crazy skill sets to do what I consider "easy" jobs. I have not got the certifications so I am declined for these jobs. My age probably does not help. Do you really think a company is going to lay off a skilled machinist or some one certified in Microsoft for example to hire and train a welfare mutt? It ain't happening here I can tell you. Hell, I am not qualified to drive a forklift or work in a warehouse! :o Don't know how I got so far being so dumb! ;)

Jpete, I said that's what some employers would do, if not covered by a labor agreement & a welfare worker that can do the same job(like the victim of downsizing) & hasn't been hired so ended up on welfare. Most on welfare are not there forever or because they want to be & there ends up being some very capable people on welfare perhaps just in the wrong area or too old (I know-not allowed but it's alive & well), I know what I wrote & how you turned it as usual.

When you say "all" you really mean "some"?

Silly me for "turning" what you wrote.

When I say ALL that's what I mean ALL, that making special arrangements for some & not for all will get you in trouble every time. Silly You. You just pointed out exactly what I said you do.

Have another drink Sam. Maybe in the morning you'll realize you are talking out your ass.

First it's "all" then it's "some" then "some" means "all".

Then hows this, if I were Pres. I'd work to get a law passed where anyone receiving Gov. help while bad mouthing the very thing they are living off of would become ineligible. For the ones that seem to be able to reproduce without help from the opposite sex the aid wouldn't increase & part of the food stamps (or whatever they call it now) could only be used for child support or the children are removed & mother jailed for neglect. Drug testing randomly & if dirty no benefits, most employers now give drug test, in reality they are Gov. employees so they get them as well, the costs would be more than offset by the savings.
