If I were President of the United States I would...

PostBy: rockwood On: Tue Nov 20, 2012 9:16 pm

I would abide strictly by the constitution and do everything I could to:
Abolish fed reserve.
Give power to govern back to the states (Eliminate Obamacare, Eliminate EPA....)
Repeal 16 amendment (the IRS really has no proper place in our constitutional system)
Eliminate executive orders (and any in the future) (These basically bypass congress and give dictatorial power to the POTUS)

I would fight anything that...
...."Takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong."
...."Benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime."

There are other specific things I would do but I'm curious to see what you guys (and gals) would do.

Don't be so sure. Did someone say 'Executive order'? Use them, then lose them. That would be the only time I might agree with them.

If you read the list that was one of the things that was to be eliminated, you wanted to us it even before you got to get rid of it. :o

Could an Executive Order be issued to eliminate the future use of all Executive Orders, or would that be akin to asking God to make a rock so large that even he couldn't lift it?

Those are just some of my thoughts on what should be done. Besides, I said that I would "do everything I could to:", I didn't say I would do it no matter what (we've had plenty of presidents do that). My point of this thread was that I wanted to know what YOU would do.

The confoundedness of the Constitution is left up to the interpretation of those that utilize it as a guide....

If I were president I would give law abiding citizens with strong good solid backgrounds especially in high crime areas AR-15s and proper training. I would bet cities would be much more polite to visit. Also allow carrying across state lines possible everywhere. Oh yea I would make cheap foreign goods illegal. Everything we use would have to be produced here in the US in 5yrs or less. :D

If I were president, I would make a new national holiday. Dog Day. Give all the little puppy dogs a free ice cream sunday from McDonalds. Of course, all us working stiffs still wouldn't get the day off. :)

If I were president of the United States I would; cut all foreign aid, eliminate welfare, get rid of free trade agreements, Tax companies double for sending American jobs overseas, and allow border patrol to shoot anyone sneaking across the border.

All good policies there!!!

I find it funny that during the Roosevelt administrations New Deal when the WPA work programs were in full swing the Supreme Court wanted to declare the programs illegal, but by the time of the Johnson administration and the Great Society massive welfare programs everything was fine. Working for a living (WPA) is bad, but getting free money with no work to show for it is good.

I say that it you have to give hand outs give them out in the form of workfare. Workfare, not welfare.

But would workfare be legally considered to be a form of indentured servitude or slavery?
