NSA snooping keeps us safe

I've been reading about this "data center" for some time now....The title of the article says it all. "Safety or Surveillance".

Soon, there's going to be no such thing as privacy, and it's all in the name of keeping (you) safe.

PATRIOT Act and Obstruct Terrorism Act was implemented in 2001, which allows that of your concern.

This is a HUGE complex and they monitor everything including this forum. They sift through all electronic communications looking for key words, phrases etc. They can and do listen to phone, radio conversations etc., monitor emails, chats, youname it all over the world. They are big brother on steroids.

jpete...CORRECT! :D That was the software developed along with the foundation for the PATRIOT Act and Obstruct Terrorism Act. Now SAM can "snoop" at just about anything they deem necessary! :(

When I was over in Ireland the farm owner said he spread manure before the due date. Like here in Maine, we cannot spread manure from December 1st through march 15th, and so this guy spread his manure a little early. He said he was sent a fine for doing so. Apparently over there they monitor satellites for such things and send fines for that, letting baleage wrappers get blown across the landscape, and not grazing their animals right.

But Ireland is only the size of Maine...that could NEVER happen in the land of the free right?

Well I was down looking at some maps of the farm here for farm related stuff with the USDA and commented on how detailed they were. The woman looked at me and said, "These are just color ones, the good satellites can take photos of your back yard and enable the person looking at them to read the numbers off a quarter."

I went home and told my wife not to sun bath nude in the back yard anymore!! :-) (Okay, so I lie and I never said that!) :D :D :D

Every single thing you send online, through text, or say over a phone is monitored. I am sure they have code words they have, and when they find them they flag it and research it further. Again I ask, Home of The Free??? They can't intercept messages fast enough on Facebook when some psycho blogs about shooting up a movie theatre for a week then does it, but they do know if you say something negative about our great government.

I just placed an order for 500 rounds of 9mm ammo. I am sure that got flagged somewhere. I asked the parents and in-laws for ammo for Christmas over email, I am sure that got flagged somewhere. It is within our very lifetimes that the government will knock on your doors and ask to see your firearms, ammo stores, etc. The question is, when that day comes, what will happen? All this talk about civil war makes me think about that scenario.

Over the years I have worked a few jobs where I have met some off the wall people. People who burried AK-47s in PVC pipes all over their property 15 years ago. People who have picked up pieces and parts in their travels and ammassed enough to put together some amazing weapons. When I was a kid my best friend's dad was some Special Forces guy, never around, always away. He had a live rocket launcher. No lie. How did he get it? No idea, but he had it, and one night when some spotlighters came down his mile long private drive he pointed it in there direction. I have never since seen someone drive so fast in reverse in the dark! He also had several live grenades and plastic explosives. One thing I remember vividly was we watched a vampire movie and we were scared 10 year olds so we made wooden spears and stakes to protect ourselves that night. Well my buddy chucked one of the spears and wouldnt you know it it went right into a power pole and split the power line, pinning it to the pole. His old man came out, took a rope and frayed it, tied on some 1/2" nuts, swung it around and up and it wrapped around the spear. He then pulled it out. Then whooped my friends ass for about 5 minutes.

I am getting off point. We are all under watch. It is no difference then communism. They know how much you make, who you talk to, what you do online, how much money you have in the bank, and how many registered weapons you have.

Welcome to the FREE America....

Way back in the early 90s I got to look at a binder of photos a friend had, flipping thru them they were of Cuba & as they kept getting closer & cleaned up it took you from the outline of Cuba down to where you could read the cigar wrapper on a street vendors stand. He told me that they were then old technology so it was no big deal. Guess you can argue both sides forever but if it does happen to catch one big terror plot it may all be worth it, besides the nude pics are fun to look at.

It's not that difficult to lose a whole bunch of that transparency, in fact, MOST. I did not say all. And I surely empathize with you young family men that would have a lot more of a problem falling off the grid then I would. BUT, to anyone that doesn't think this has been going on for ever & ever, you've been very foolish. Hey, everybody loves the convenience of all the cyber crap available, I've got no sympathy for those that put their entire lives on line, bank on line, etc. Used to be people did business local, not anymore. Spoke to some guy from God knows where or what language he'd come from just to add some minutes to my trac-phone--that was an hr. venture with my side of the conversation amounting to mostly--WHAT???-- Yeah, our politicians for the most part SUK--BUT, we have made our own bed. Rw, you & I both know, this is still the land of the free--ya doubt it??? Go check out some of these other Countries.

With out a doubt, still the greatest place in the world and no where else I would rather be. Other countries have it much worse, I guess my fear comes from how bad it could become here. I have always had an issue with authority. Ever since I was a snott nosed 4 year old riding my bigwheel down town while my babysitter made out with her boyfriend! It makes my State Police sniper buddy laugh cause I always call him a damn PIG!

I have a sick feeling in my belly of where we are headed. Much more now then ever before. And that means losing more of my freedoms and even more of my children's and grandchildren's freedoms.

Sometimes things are better left alone.
