More air out of right side of pot

The side where the blowers feeds into the pot is getting more air, and burning the coal unevenly. Is there a way to equalize the air flow? I didn't see any way to do this from the diagrams.

Sounds to me like you have either fines built upon the other side of the pot, or your bottom plate isn't seated right/warped. I would open the ashpan door and take out the ashpan. Without the stoker running of course. Look up under there and have someone pull the fines handle. You should be able to see into the holes in the bottom that get uncovered by the plate. See if there is a fine buildup in there. That is a good place to start. Then see if the bottom plate closes properly, tight to the bottom. Make sure it isn't warped. Get the easy stuff out of the way first

Pull the cleanout lever at least once before you slide under there, and wear safety glasses.

Actually, its the left side that burns more than the right side when looking into the boiler, i.e. as the air exits the blower mounted on the right side it seems to come straight up into the pot.

It worked fine until I put in a new bushing and scrapped off a ton of ash on the inside of the boiler, but I also used compressed air and dust collector to blow/suck out the fines in the pot. Lots of fines came out. I was actually surprised there was so much in there. I'll shut it down tomorrow, and put a camera probe up there to look around. I'm going to remove the draft inducer from the smoke stack since I believe there is more natural draft since I scrapped off all the deposits on the inside of the boiler.

I'm considering taking the pot out and cleaning/rebuilding it. Is there a kit to buy? Thanks.

There are three rope gaskets used in the pot. Maybe one is burned out and the air is pushing out. There is no kit to rebuild the pot. It's gaskets and burner plates.

Stoker-man,

How do I remove the burner from the blower to take out the pot to service? I can get the feed side disassembled, but I haven't taken the pot out yet.

You will see a 3" air pipe between the pot and the blower. Loosen or remove the set screws at one end, pull straight out 1/2" and then twist. The stoker end of the pipe has the set screws at the mounting area of the stoker. Remove the coal pipe and the clean out lever.

Dave, I don't mean to imply that you can't fix this yourself...but it seems like you have been struggling with this stoker for quite a while. Maybe it is time to take the entire pot assembly to an experienced EFM dealer and have a fresh set of eyes look it over.

I'm ordering the ropes to take the burner apart, and if I still have problems I will send it to EFM dealer to fix. I just don't have anyone in the area to help fix it.

Got the pot out today. I didn't realize the "tray" above the ash bin slide out, but otherwise it wasn't too difficult.

I am not sure where air is leaking, but here are some pictures of the burner open.

Looks like your tube wasn't properly seated. Did you oil your coal?

Not sure what you mean by oil the coal....

I'm going to put it back together, and clean out the blower. Hopefully, it will work as new. I found another big chunk of coal in the tube so I have to filter the coal. I think the fines from the wet coal are clogging it up. I chipped out a lot of hardened coal fines from around the bottom of the plates on the right side. I'll start setting the bags up off the palet to let some of the water drain before I dump it in the coal bin.
