I don't know why it is so hard to understand. Politicians castigate others while they themselves are the biggest thieves on earth.

I guess you could use the same logic by saying the crooks that looted damaged homes were actually helping them to clean up. Yep that's the truth officer by cleaning those homes of their valuables there was no reason for the owners going in there & getting hurt, I was just keeping them safe.

So are you saying that his logic is seriously flawed? I wonder if some of those affected by this in NY and NJ might be thinking otherwise right about now?

Or are you perhaps saying that in order for you to come to the conclusion that Ron Paul might just in this instance be right, there must be a criminal or liberal element simultaneously made right in order to through some amazingly convoluted feat of logic somehow balance the scales?

Is legislation against looting on an equal footing with legislation that dictates that prices must be kept low in a disaster situation? Are all laws just simply because they are the law?

No what could be wrong, I think that even if there isn't a disaster gas stations or any other businesses should get together & raise there prices on everything they sell for the good of the average man that way only the wealthy can survive & there will be more to go around once the poor & middle class is gone. The country would be a lot better off without all these people, let them starve & freeze & if one should get out of line & raise their voice or make demands arrest & torture them to make an example for the others, it helps build character.

Sam, you don't get it at all. Goods such as gasoline were not available in NY or NJ after Sandy because the suppliers and providers were not permitted to be properly compensated for the risk they were undertaking. And legislation to prevent them from achieving such compensation caused them to shrug rather than face risk without equal reward. If the free market had been permitted to function gasoline would have been available far more quickly and far more plentifully for all. Since it was not permitted to function, gasoline was not available. This was true for rich and poor alike.

Yeah Sam markets are evil. Much better we should have the geniuses in government controlling it. Look how well they drove millions into poverty by interfering in the housing market.

After WW2 the biggest threat to our economy was government control of prices through the OPA and it was hell to finally pry loose the death grip of government. The only thing that prospered was the black markets.

The government ought to be glad there are still pockets of free markets that they haven't managed to stomp out yet.

Don't you think that the lack of some controls in the housing market had anything to do with the collapse? The Gov. didn't force any bank or lender to make a known bad loan. The Gov. didn't tell RE agents to lie to get clients loans so they could get their commissions. The Gov. didn't tell lenders to sell off bad loans hidden with a few good. There used to be some personal integrity when I had my RE license we had guide lines to go by, a lender would hold that mortgage from day one to pay off, you knew who owned your loan. The only thing the so called flexible loans did was to raise RE prices way above value which in turn increased commissions 7 profits from selling off loans. The Gov. encouraged lending to new home owners, not lying to them that they could afford it but I guess by R.P.s logic that would have been good for free enterprise & the economy.
