Here is how we do it. The bags set up a nice tight pattern. Helps to have a front end loader.

Nice looking supply of supersack coal there! Do you eventually move them indoors, or do they remain outdoors?

Haven't figured how to burn it outdoors yet. I move to the front of the garage where my indentured servant (17 year old son) buckets it into the 1200 lb bin. Takes him 10 minutes. Should have made the bin bigger.

I acquired some of those super sacks used, haven't had coal in them yet though.

I did note that mine say to keep them out of the sun as it will degrade them and not keep their weight rating for long.

Some sort of equipment is essential. Loader, Big tractor, big skid steer, fork lift. It is impossible to move them without it. While it is convenient for some folks, bagged still remains as the best of both worlds.
Like the FRAM Oil Filter man: Pay me now, pay me later......... Pay if forward...... It costs close to the same number when real costs are factored in.

Northern Maine: you have the best of both worlds right now, and it is impossible to improve on that price, even if you drove your own rig down and back. Bulk works for those who have the room and equipment to make it work.

Here is another use for them. If and when you are lucky enough to score some free coal, we use them to dump the bounty into. No need to reload the product, just lift it off the trailer, and you are good to go.

Whistlenut...I know I've got it good! :D I would use those bags in my basement to store my coal! I've already got a design for them...I just need to continue saving for my heating unit! I can't wait! :D

I looked at stoves there, but went with another company. I buy bulk coal from Andross Hardware ( new owners and may be Compass Hardware) 364-9607 in Charlestown. They have nut, pea, rice, and stove. They are $290 / ton + delivery. I pick up myself either by filling buckets or they will load for you.

Have not tried Gayle yet. I have heard they are good, but for the same money, Harmony is a known source. Tried and true. The bags are filled with it. Harmony buck. :)
