Hello,
I recently moved to a new house and brought my Harman Magnum Stoker with me. Since no chimney currently exists, I wanted to know if I could install and use power vent on the side of my house.

I read the link and found it helpful. Thank you! I have another question - and am not sure whether it is dumb...

The power vent is basically 4" which will work with my stove which is 85,000.00 BTUH. Can I run the flue pipe in 4" with a 4" barametric damper or must I keep it 6" and neck down at the power vent.

There are 2 different type of Power assisted vents.

POWER VENT mounts on the outside of your house and pulls the exhaust out thru a 6" pipe and you can have a standard 6" baro damper.

DIRECT VENTS mounts directly on the Stove (Like keystokers) and pushes the exhaust fumes out typically thru a 4" pipe. You have to make sure you seal the pipes good.

There are numerous threads on DIRECT VENT vs POWER VENT.

I'll add to what WNY stated:
No barometric damper allowed (or needed) in a direct vent system.

Draft is still very important to be measured and controlled. There are pro's and con's to both systems. You are still always better off with a properly installed chimney be it masonry or SS.
