The question is if someone else wanted to put a religious scene on public property would you have the same point of view? Christianity is the dominant religion in the US but there are others and they should be treated equally. If you want to allow Christian symbols on public property you have to allow them all IMO.

As far as a skinny Santa goes that's just stupid.

Edit: I didn't read the article first, and there you have it. Best just to not allow any religious symbols.

Its; just plain nuts around here, along with the Nativity scene, the new Mayor has much controversy about many things, but he inherited many of the problems with taxes, water bills, budgets, etc...they never raised things much over the past 10-15 years, they never had a handle on the books (their own fault) and now they need to raise everything 20-40% to meet budgets, it's not his fault, but everyone blaimed him....it;s a shame to see it happen.

My parents water bill was $70-90 every 3 months, now it's $170!!! The taxes have gone up almost 25%, etc....We just moved out of the town last year....yes, we paid a bit higher taxes at first, but if we stayed, it would have been worse.

Two of the foundational beliefs of Christianity is that we're all from the same blood and to not judge others. So, for me, yes, I would have no issue with another religion putting up a display.

But you would be the exception and not the rule. Do you think they would allow that display if it was strictly a wiccan holiday? Probably not, the only reason they are allowing it now is because they have no choice.

Any way you want to spin it this holiday season is for "Christmas", the birth of Jesus Christ. The tree we decorate is a "Christmas" tree. Merry CHRISTMAS.

We have become a society of Pansy A$$, drooling, PC correct idiots. If someone want so put a nativity up on public property I say let em do it. If they want to put up a Kwanza display, or whatever else... let em do it. It doesn't matter , now if the ideology is all about harming others or controlling what they say and think then of course it has to be limited. A little common sense people!

Whatever happened to freedom to practice whatever religion you want and say what is on your mind. Now the politicians are so afraid of offending anyone we are losing any individuality or diversity.... kinda funny considering all this PC correct stuff is supposed to be about allowing diversity!

Wow, OK I feel better now, end of rant. :)

Well Hannukha and kwanzana (sp? on the both of them) are both celebrated at this time of year as are a few other religious holidays, it's only Christmas time for Christians. I got nothing against religious displays, I'm a live and let live kind of guy. I just don't think they should be on display on public property. The fact we have a Wiccan display right next to Christian display is pretty obnoxious, what's next they going to have Satanist setting up shop?

Just easier to ban them all.

And around and around it goes, some body got a little scared and decided that it's better to destroy what we don't agree with. Of course this person didn't understand what the symbol meant to the person who put it there.

Just look at history, we humans have been doing this for all of recorded time, just enjoy the ride!
