What are the connotations behind this? What is the political environment coming to?

So many of the so called conservative Republicans just cave to the Democrats anyway they might as well just join them and get the correct letter beside their names.

Charlie Crist's first official act as a Democrat was to tell a lie about why he is now pretending to be one," the Florida GOP said in a statement early Saturday. "The truth is that this self-professed, Ronald-Reagan Republican only abandoned his pro-life, pro-gun, conservative principles in 2010 after he realized that Republicans didn't want to send him to Washington D.C. as a senator, especially after he proved he couldn't do the job as governor.

Going by what part of the article states it does go to show you that in his case anyway he really doesn't have any principals. He is just looking to better his political future and willing to sellout to the highest bidder. My $.02
