Transit authorities in cities across the country are quietly installing microphone-enabled surveillance systems on public buses that would give them the ability to record and store private conversations, according to documents obtained by a news outlet.

Violation of the 4th Amendment or not?

Violation at face value...yes.

That's already being done on Baltimore City buses. You would never catch me on one of those buses. Not because of the recording but your chances of being assaulted are much better than walking down the worst street in Maine or Rhode Island. No right to carry in Maryland.

And with that coalkirk...the connotations of having this type of media for protection MAY be worth it! But, many will not look at it in the view of any type of benefit, but to the a view of maintaining ones PERSONAL outlook!

In other words " Hooray for me and to hell with you" seems to be somewhat of a general consensus among SOME!

I was in downtown Providence today. The signs indicating that the street was under 24 hour video recording were placed 15'-20' above street level. If I hadn't been rubbernecking like a tourist, I'm pretty sure I'd never have seen them.

Maryland is another one of those PITA states with the gun laws. What is it about 10mins to drive through when heading south from PA. You have to stop, unload, lock the gun up drive for 10 or 15 mins and you are through the state.

You are just not tall enough I guess. :) Actually it does sound like it was purposely done that way. Or maybe they figure the signs would be harder to steal at that height. :D
