I'm sorry, but I put this whole sad fiasco back on the home/ mother & ultimatly--one screwed up kid. No excuses are acceptable here.

Media says (for what that's worth) that she taught her son how to use these weapons and took him to the range for practice. Also that she was a bit of a prepper and that may explain why she did that?

The ATF has found no evidence of them going to the range. just saying. This story changes every hour.

This part makes me laugh too.

The idea that if we allow them to carry a gun, they might shoot the kids.

Hey! Guess what! If they wanted to shoot your kid, he'd be dead by now!

No one is stopping the teacher from bringing in a gun tomorrow!

Someone said it here(or possibly another thread)....laws and locks keep honest people honest.

Yeah that happened the very same day as Conn. The only difference was that he wounded 20. As other's have stated, these types could have used a car, a bomb, what have you but the majority do all seem to use firearms. Why is that? I don't know. I can only guess that it's easy to pull a trigger, they don't have to be up close and personal (as much) and they maybe think they are Rambo or some such anti hero playing out the same fantasies they've seen glorified many times over in theaters on vidoe games etc..

Just got off the phone with my best friend. He just spent 4 hours in the pouring rain with his scope on a dude that was hanging out in the woods in the back of a Wal-mart with a .22 threatening to kill himself or others. He gave up, and my bud just got soaked but didnt have to take someone's life tonight.

His take on this school stuff? Arm the teachers or have a group of teachers trained as a tactical team, much like the prisons do, when the *censored* hits the fan they go to the armory, suit up, and go after the threat. He said by the time they show up, it is far too late to make a difference.

He is pissed at all the liberal bullshit threatening to take guns and ammo and said that armed citizens make his job EASIER.

Imagine that....

All the cops I've spoken to said the exact same thing.

I suppose schools could hire their OWN security detail, like what we have at the airport MINUS the ineptness of the government running it. But then what do you do to stop the guy who flies a plane into the school?

Just arm the teachers & give them and the kids a fighting chance. Seems like common sense to me. Could also start enforcing the 10,000 gun laws WE ALREADY HAVE, for starters ...

I heard a great idea today on the radio. Why not hire returning Vets (who by and large are not easily finding employment) to do perimeter security on the grounds??

Hell, already, need jobs, trained, smart and able..."when life serves you lemons, make Lemonade!"

Mental health is not a perpetual state nor is someone's composure. A recent example is the Jet Blue pilot that recently lost it during a flight. Just because they wouldn't do it today doesn't mean they will not do it tomorrow.

My point exactly. You send your kid off to school everyday with no idea who the hell is watching them.

Not to put the vets down but do you really think that's a good idea considering the mental health issues many of these returning vets have?

Could just evaluate them, as they must ( or SHOULD) do before hiring anyone at a school anyway. Could make it a requirement to be evaluated by a psychologist first, much like a truck driver has to pee in a cup.

That was my thought, these guys kill kids to pets every day, suicide is at a all time high in the military today, and for good reason.
