The problem is obviously lack of morals. Society is BROKEN. There is nothing to debate here. To fix the problem, we need to STOP DEMONIZING RELIGION and instead BRING IT BACK INTO EVERYDAY LIFE! When you fear nothing, what is to stop a deranged individual from doing this again - besides a shot to the head by a law-abiding citizen??

The left will run with this one, sadly, as an excuse to ban black, "scary" guns.

Exactly Smitty........... Society has evolved where no one is held responsible for their own actions. See someone breaking into a vehicle ?? Ah just let them do it and then call your insurance company. What you don't have insurance?? Tough beans, you should have had it. So now it's your own fault someone stole your stuff and you suffered a loss. Bull !!! Have someone break into your store and they cut themselves on your door glass and they can sue you for not having safety glass ??

Have someone attempt to rob you and you shoot them instead and they can sue you ???? :wtf: :wtf: Someone break into your home and unless you are in immediate peril you can't shoot them ?? Hogwash !!!!! Now at least here in PA we now have the Castle Doctrine so we got some relief. But why did they have to legislate the right to defend ones self ??

C'mon people. We have become a country of pussies. We are taught to just sit back and take it. Don't get involved. Let someone else do it. I could go on and on.

Allow legal citizens the right to keep and bear arms wherever they go and this *censored* will stop. Why the hell do they go into schools to do this ??? Because IF you are a law abiding citizen carrying any firearm near a school, you can get arrested. Geez, has there ever been any school shootings in Alaska ?? I highly doubt it !!!!

It just makes me so sick how we have become !!!

I'm sure making something illegal will stop the crazies from murdering small children. If only they had realized it was a "gun free school zone" this would never have happened. If you're not concerned about murdering small innocent children, What in hell would make you concerned about breaking a law and obtaining a weapon? Any destructive weapon or device can be got or made via the black market, anyone that thinks otherwise is a fool. I know people that purchased illegal handguns in Germany, and I know many people in Buffalo that have them as well; If I wanted an illegal weapon, It wouldn't take me much effort to obtain it.

The wild west? Please. Would you rather the settlers and business people in the old west bend over and get taken by thieves, gangs and cowboys or would you rather they defend their property and livelihood in the absence of any effective law enforcement? Now that we have effective Law enforcement, citizens still need to be able to protect themselves and others in the critical moments before law enforcement is able to respond.

Laws and law enforcement will never stop these types of people from committing brutal mass shootings (or bombings or ... ) but allowing law abiding citizens to protect themselves and others will allow the possibility of less innocent death.

PostBy: Rwalker On: Fri Dec 14, 2012 7:42 pm

Just got home from work and hugged my kids. As a father of 4, this is pretty sickening news and my wife and I both have a pit in our stomachs over this.

This, sadly, begins at home gentlemen. I see it every day at work. Parents are absent or do not parent, teachers are not allowed to teach and discipline (in my day we got the paddle), and the trend continues to were they are residents of the Correctional system where they do not listen either. Parents today are pussies. The Pussification of America is alive and well, and when your children are allowed to do what they want, when they want, and are handed everything on a silver platter, THIS is how they turn out. This is what they do. They become WOLVES. So to you parents, I suggest you do your part and instill in your own children the importance of right versus wrong, winning versus losing, working versus leaching. I am not like most of you, I am not a "believer". That does not mean our children do not have morals and do not know right from wrong. We do not spare the rod. Our children tow the line and respect adults. They do not talk back, and if they try to cross the line they know there are consequences to their behavior. They are taught the value of hard work, the value of pushing themselves to new limits physically and mentally. And they VALUE human life. They are raised to be SHEEPDOGS. To protect the herd and never harm the sheep...especially the lambs. As their skills are honed, they will be taught to run towards the sound of gunfire, not away from it.

As soon as I got done hugging my kids, I explained to my older 2 what happened today. I then told them, if they ever hear gun shots in their school they need to get the hell out of the building, not huddle in the corner with the rest of the class like a bunch of sitting ducks. Break a window, crawl through a vent, just get the hell out together and dont stop running until they see me or their momma. A story I read said a young boy did that today, he grabbed his friends and ran. Dont huddle like a lamb to the slaughter. React swiftly and get the hell out of there.

Gun control is not now, nor will it ever be the answer. He could have just as easily walked into the classroom with a bomb strapped to his chest. He could have used a knife like that crazy man did in China. Gun control simply takes the Sheepdog's chance to stop such a tradgedy from happening. Why do you think these wack jobs target schools? They know no one is armed. In PA we can carry everywhere but Court Houses and secondary schools. So when the wolf comes calling on a school, he has 100s of sheep for the taking. I am a firm believer in those who have CCW's being allowed to carry to school if they want. People are quick to say you dont stop the violence with more violence. Really? How DO you stop it then? Violence MUST be met head on with swift violence. An armed gunman must be stopped in his tracks by someone who is confident, secure, trained, and ready. Yes, it starts at home. It starts with raising our kids to be MEN and WOMEN. But when that fails, when the parents fail, when that 1 wolf snaps, he must be dealt with harshly and violently. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. 1 armed teacher could have stopped the killing of many innocent children. 1 armed student at Virgina Tech could have stopped that rampage as well. Those of us who have CCWs, who carry, teach our minds and bodies to thrive in those situations. Much like soldiers on the battle field, we go over scenarios in our heads over and over and over, how we would handle it, where would we exit, how would we approach the threat. I have played out mall shootings, restaurant shootings, etc. in my head so many times it often keeps me awake at night.

I am all for tougher gun laws. As far as I am concerned, if you break the law you lose the right to own a gun. Misdemeanor or felony, doesnt matter, you have become a wolf and you lose your right. I am all for stricter back ground checks. And, I would even agree to the limiting of high capacity mags. My .45 I carry holds 7 rounds and I am confident that I only need 1. But to take completely makes no sense at all. It only empowers the wolf. It strengthens the wolf. It makes us ALL sheep.

Schools should have better plans for these issues. It isnt hard to get metal detectors, most inner city schools have them as well as guards with wands checking back packs, etc. Doors on the school rooms should be made better with a slam bar locking mechanism. At the first sign of trouble the doors are shut, the slam lock is engaged, and the escape window is popped open so everyone can get out. Huddle in the corner??? Really? A man dressed in black and carrying weapons should not be able to access a school.

Wednesday my wife and I were sitting in a waiting room at The Cleveland Clinic waiting to see my heart doctor and schedule my next surgery that should FINALLY have me back to normal and living a long, healthy life. We caught the news about the Oregon mall shooting. I looked at my wife and said, "You know, I would have had to get you guys out and safe and go back in right?" She shook her head yes. She knows I am a sheepdog and I can not sit by and let the wolf win. I run towards the sound of gunfire and once the family is safe, I am headed back into the *censored* to make a difference. Damn the consequences. I will die defending the flock. "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

To the families of this terrible tragedy, my family sends it's deepest sympathies. May you find peace in your own ways and may the spirit of your child forever brighten your life. We cannot begin to imagine your hurt, but we can share the sorrow with you and provide a shoulder to cry on.

I understand that I'm pretty old & grumpy, but it saddens me deeply to know that at this point in time there are people dealing with the ultimate pain of having lost a loved one due to some less then human piece of *censored* & all I'm reading, except for a few posts wishing condolences & sharing in that pain, a bunch of MY friends/acquaintances are talking about nonsensical shoulda, coulda, woulda crap. I'm sorry, but show some respect for these people. Start a pro gun topic, don't insult these poor people. There, sorry, but I feel better. Yes, I am a serious gun owner, more so then most will ever know & firm believer in the 2nd amendment. But I also know compassion & respect.

Fred-

Terrible things like this bring out a flood of emotions. People express these emotions in many ways. Of course, everyone is grieving for these families. I have 4 little ones aged 8 and under, I cant even put it into perspective. However that is not going to stop me from speaking the truth or speaking how I feel. We could make things better Fred, we could, but it has to start somewhere.

If one of my own flesh and blood were involved in this I would still feel the same way. I would still call for tougher security measures at schools. I would still call for the ability for the CCW permit holders to have the right to carry in school.

These are my thoughts and these are the emtions this pulls out of me Fred. If that pisses you off, so be it. I have big shoulders, I can take it. What we CANNOT do is allow this terrible event to alter our freedoms. If we do, the wolf wins.

You are still my road dog you old bastard.

I'm very thankful that I could still spend time with my children today....My posts earlier may have been more out of emotion of the possible loss of my children in a similar situation! This could be my kids! I believe in our rights to protect ourselves as well...I go to work daily with "my fellow Americans in mind" and will protect them at the cost of my own life if need be! When I return home, I still hold this same standard, as my children'd lives are near and dear to me. To all of you here...I wish for nothing but the best for each of you, as I do for my own children! Please take a moment and pray for those that are in pain this evening that have lost their child!

I hear & agree with Freetown, reading these replies it runs the gamut from true feelings & compassion to all of a sudden throwing blame around, you want to make it an anti-left rant start another thread. We really don't know much about the whole thing yet other than it was a very troubled young man the committed an unthinkable act. IMO the here & now should be left to compassion & prayers to all those involved, you want to jump on someone or thing jump on me but start a new subject out of respect.
