That's a true statement since one of the strongest inhibitions humans have is to not harm children. We clearly need to understand more about our own species and its true needs, as we seem to know more about chimps or wolves.

Newtown is is not that far from me and I go there frequently. It is just about the last place you would expect this to happen. A place with a monster flagpole and American flag planted square in the middle of the main street. This killer can't have been brought up in this town. I am just sick over the violation of the decency that I know exists in this town.

My turn.

1st: Connecticut has a Assault Weapons Ban designed along the same parameters as the Clinton Ban except ours is for forever.

2nd: While the shooter did have a AR in his car (actually his mothers car and AR and both handguns registered to her) he did not use it, but don't let that get in the way.

3rd: I actually heard a CBS reporter on the radio proclaim the shooter used ASSAULT PISTOLS.

4th: CBS with Scott Pelly and his crew of crack experts show graphics of said Semi-auto pistols as...Sig Sauer "the same one used by the CIA!" GASP!! and the GLock, the same ones used by "Law enforcement and the military " Gasp!! "Both are CAPABLE OF HIGH CAPACITY MAGAZINES ( note there is nobody saying he used them, just they are CAPABLE) Then a graphic of the "Bushmaster" that was in the back seat ANNNND, never used is a HIGH POWERD ASSAULT RIFLE used by our Military Forces".

The problem is ( and I'm sorry if I offend) the moral break down of the family and the difference between right and wrong. The idea of "I'm respsnsible for my actions" vs- I have issues so I am justified in my sick twist mind to something and, well it's not really my fault.

I dunno If I even believe in God, but I will say the whole idea of morals and ramifications brought upon ones soul were dependant upon ones actions. That ideology of do unto others is gone...religious or not, it's an ideal that we need and although it's pie in the sky wishful thinking we could be better.

My post friggin disappeared ....

Anyway, I started a new thread for rants here: Get ready - after CT, here comes gun control ....

I agree with everything you said, but I think we should leave this one for condolences and about the incident in general ... but ultimately that'll be Richard's decision.

The first thing I thought of were my relatives in Conn., I remember seeing signs for New Town but not how close to them but luckily they aren't in that area. Then I wondered what I would even say in a situation like that, what can one possibly say except my heart & prayers go out to all involved.

It is like evil has sucked the life out of the area. Everyone is in a daze. You can feel the pain all around and know that there isn't anything that can be done. Worried that it might strike closer to home, that you might know someone who has lost their child.

I refuse to get into emotional debates. gun control of any sort will not solve this. it is a problem with society. why did his mom have such weapons? Why did he go off and use them against children? go one forever with your questions? The solution is not the easy common sense one you seek. as you watch the liberal media rail against guns and not report one single good use of a gun, stop and think how odd that is. i will not respond to any anti 2nd amendment rants. It is my right as much as your speech. Lets take that away first. along with the 4th.

In my profession I go to schools every now and again and most have no metal detectors or any real security to speak of unless you go to a inner city school in which case you are damn near frisked at the front door.

Too complicated at this point, e.g. you have posts involving gun control and the topic itself.

Someone mentioned move to Maine... that won't help... In 2008 we had a whack-O with a gun go into a grade school & hold a class hostage. It ended with no injuries, but it could have been much worse: http://bangordailynews.com/2011/03/14/n ... in-prison/

Might it have helped if the owner of those Connecticut guns had locks on them?

this is all about mental illness/disorder and lack of common sense in gun ownership. it could be lack of common sense in 5 gal gas can and match ownership or keys for tractor trailer .... AND a known unstable person. the copy cat syndrome indeed has a place in this issue also. For Gods sake they sensationalized the columbine/ft.hood/...etc so extremely it planted bad seeds in who knows how many

any responsible weapon owner has theirs locked and secured so that their neighbors kid, nephew or niece, distraught friends kid, etc cant get in and take loaded weapons so easily and live out their angst in fantasy game-like reality. When will people stop giving their kids the conduit to evil life's instructions?? Obama needs no control for guns, he needs to address the mental and moral decline of Americans via concentrating within our borders. WE NEED TO FIX US FIRST!!!

For Gods sake,(pick any God) its family first!!!!! The quad-zillions this govt. pisses away from our shores IS having this negative fallout effect!! SPEND IT ON OUR PEOPLE...STOP the influx of broken people from broken countries with their broken ideas.
Get us fixed, THEN we can again start helping the outside ;) :( :o :|
