Hi I am new to this site and just wanted to say wonderful in tell from this site . I was at the bloomsburg fair and was looking to heat 2600 square feet with a hot air coal furnace . The dealer had readings, Harman, leisure and key-stoker there. I was interested in the readings for the amount of money I could spend but then the dealer said he had a new model key-stoker that would fit the budget what I was looking for. I purchased the key-stoker koker 105 thou.sand btus. Wow the heat and the capacity of this unit is amazing . I have been burning it now for about a month with its 200 lb hopper and huge ash tub it has gone 5 days I am very pleased with this unit.

The cold air return is a vent I put in the floor above the unit. The pipe is an 8 inch attached to a heat exchanger I made pulling the heat off the side and back to the filter box . I upgraded the filters to a washable aluminum mess filter on both sides.

Hot Air Coal Stoker Furnace: Koker 160

Post by xpress23 » Thu. Dec. 20, 2012 7:37 am

How much radiant heat is coming off your stove, is it warming your basement OR is most of the heat being pulled into and out your ductwork?

Can I ask where you bought your keystoker from? I'm looking at a koker 160K for a 2100 sq.ft 2-story house but maybe the 105k that you have will work just fine. I'm sure the 105 is a bit cheat too.

Thanks

I heat my entire house with my Koker. My heat is duct upstairs and I get plenty of radiant heat from the duct work and the stove to keep basement warm. If more was ever needed I would put a vent in the basement or make a louver for the front of the stove where you can remove the piece to direct air into the room.

Thanks for the info. I'm leaning towards the Koker. I was just curious how much heat comes off the stove itself. I plan on putting this stove in my basement in the utility room so I will not need the radiant heat from the stove. Like you said, I plan on just running a branch off the duct in the basement for heat if I need it.

Are you only using koker's 1500cfm blower to move the air around your house or do you have another blower installed?

Thanks

I use the factory blower. I believe it is 1560 cfm or something like that. Pics of my setup here.

I bought my koker 105 from stolz stove bloomsburg pa. I was interested at the time on the reading juniata but when I seen the koker 105 the advantages over shot the reading . Reading 85000 BTU ; koker 105 thousand BTU ; reading 150 lb hopper ; koker 200 lb; reading 760 cfm blower koker105 1000 cfm ; another design I did not like with the reading was the way they route their flue gas out the top . They exist in side the heat area of the stove and have a flat section that looks like it could be a fly ash collector . The koker exits up in side the back of heat exchanger area with 2 up tubes this area is washed by the cold air of convection blower which raises efficiency. I am very please with this unit.

qball,

thanks for the pics. If your are standing in front of your stove, What is the round duct for on the left hand side and the rectangle duct for coming down your wall and into the blower on the right hand side? Are they both cold air returns?

Yes, I have 3 cold air returns which go into the two seperate ducts. 2 return in the rectangle and 1 in the round.
