PostBy: Rigar On: Thu Dec 20, 2012 12:34 am

Hi all...im new to this site... but after reading and posting... I can't help but wonder how or why we come up with our usernames
... mine is Rigar.
...no real good story behind it... it's the last 5 letters of my last name..
which some people have trouble pronouncing... so it is Rigar for short i guess
... anyone else care to share?
... I will say in advance... there are some pretty clever ones here!

Mine came from a Novel network login that I was assigned about 20 years ago. It was a small company so the network admin assigned users initials for login, mine being dll. Everyone on the network knew what other users had for login names so that they could send messages to each other.

In 1995 the network was changed over to Windows but we still kept the Novel user ID's. On the changeover there were a lot of bugs and error messages were showing up at all the network terminals. The error messages were almost always DLL Errors (Dynamic Link Library). Needless to say a lot of the people that did not know about Windows errors blamed me for all their problems.

I still like using dll because being a two handed typist it is very fast to type.

The vehicle, a 1964 Porsche 356C Cabriolet, has been in storage for a few years, the only difference is the dust on the outside. The wife has been all over me to ride in it again so it will be going back on the road this coming year after I rebuild the motor.

I purchased the car in October, 1968. Because it was close to winter it went into storage right away and since 1968 it has only been driven during the late spring to early fall part of the year. The car is all original except for the outside rear view mirror, it was changed to a Talbot Racing mirror in 1978, and I added an aftermarket luggage rack in 1979.

The Porsche factory has detailed records of each vehicle assembled from that era, this includes serial numbers of the body, engine, transmission, color and even the brand of tire that was put onto the vehicle. They issue Certificates of Authenticity and the one I obtained for this vehicle shows all matching numbers. Overall, for what I paid for it in 1968 and what it is worth now has developed into a worthwhile return on investment and it's an absolute blast :) to drive.

Absolutely gorgeous and nice that you've held onto it for that long! I once owned a silver 1967' 911S with the weber carb banks on the motor. Only had it for a year in 1973 but sure wish I still had it now.

I don't fall for that old car stuff, so I passed up a 1939 Mercedes (just like Hitlers) for $1500, and a Gull wing Mercedes for $2000. Both cars in great shape but I wanted a good old reliable Ford.

About 20 years ago a guy gave me a Surdiac Coal stove and after installing it, my grandmother who lived across the road, and who had burned bituminous coal herself in the chicken house, asked me; "When are you going to start using your new stove." I said, "It's going now", at which she said, "But there is no smoke coming from the chimney."

NoSmoke; It just seemed like a good name for a coal forum.
