The vehicle, a 1964 Porsche 356C Cabriolet, has been in storage for a few years, the only difference is the dust on the outside. The wife has been all over me to ride in it again so it will be going back on the road this coming year after I rebuild the motor.
I purchased the car in October, 1968. Because it was close to winter it went into storage right away and since 1968 it has only been driven during the late spring to early fall part of the year. The car is all original except for the outside rear view mirror, it was changed to a Talbot Racing mirror in 1978, and I added an aftermarket luggage rack in 1979.
The Porsche factory has detailed records of each vehicle assembled from that era, this includes serial numbers of the body, engine, transmission, color and even the brand of tire that was put onto the vehicle. They issue Certificates of Authenticity and the one I obtained for this vehicle shows all matching numbers. Overall, for what I paid for it in 1968 and what it is worth now has developed into a worthwhile return on investment and it's an absolute blastto drive.
