You can't even remodel your home or make an addition to it without getting permission and paying for permits.

Funny, it always seems to end up back at these very basic ideas no matter where the discussion starts. Hence the dislike of jpete's ideals. But what is the answer from Rwalker? Are you really in charge? Or are you just renting your space in time? I know my answer to the question.

In RI, I can't change a light switch without pulling a permit. Technically speaking of course. :)

I know my answer too.

I just sided my entire house this past summer...never got a permit. Just remodeled a lot of the inside...no permit again. Oops. No one seemed to care, and the builders were in full view the entire time.

I have 12 more years and my job allows me to retire. When that happens...I will be a FREE American. With children to provide for, I will "rent my space" right now. Soon enough....soon enough.

The following statistics provide broad and specific evidence that should be weighed carefully before concluding the the United States should adopt federal gun control legislation. Enhancing public safety must be balanced with a mind to protecting the public from potential government abuses.

Unfortunately SuperBeetle, they don't care what the statistics are. And we know it, This is battle for the weak minded voter. We have seen how us conservatives fare in the political arena against the liars and thieves with the media in their pockets. Hold tight to your gun.

Kevin, I know they don't care but I feel the right thing to do is keep showing the facts. Yes, there are quite a few weak minded individuals that just don't get it. Our government is not here to protect us from criminals or from themselves. Our government does not seem one bit concerned about what the majority has to say and they certainly aren't making things any better for me. I have never done anything wrong with any gun. I do however, carry on a daily basis and will protect myself and my loved ones to the best of my ability and that includes shooting someone should the need arise. I am holding my guns tighter than ever. :)

The only hope as I see it is that they cannot cover up the fact that violent crime has dropped ever since they relaxed the gun laws. And crime is the highest in gun free areas. They are trying to blame the outlying areas for the guns in Chicago and NYC and Washington DC but it is a tough sell. If that was the case, crime would be higher out in those areas also. The numbers are so stark that they will have to lie on a grand scale to get the public to follow. But I think they are moving to make the public irrelevant.

Actually they are moving to form public opinion away from the second amnd. and then using the mindless public as useful idiots.

Liberals are the masters of forming the message, getting the message out and laying a trap to get their ideas put into law. Firstly, they push "hunters don't need 30 rounds", ( we say.. who said anything about hunters?) but bobbleheads sit there and go, " yeh, that's true, who needs 30rds."

So we push back on the limitations on high cap mags knowing the true effects and reasons for owning such items and the Liberals/Media look at us and say "jeeze what a bunch of Gun Nuts, see ! see! we need to ban the NRA and those who belong!"

They just Won the Argument. Like it or not, it's true.

If you read Drudge this morning Obama is going for broke on this...all Semi-auto long guns and all semi-auto handguns to be wildly restricted...of course INCREASED restrictions and Distance on guns within School zones (now if only the gun free zone around Sandy Hook was larger then it prolly would have caused Wacko Lanza to think twice..Arghhh! ).

Read between the lines, you a have carry permit or are going hunting, you drive 1/8 mile by a school...you get pinched for speeding or some minor infraction, your NRA sticker keys the LEO to ask if you have a weapon in the vehicle, ( be honest now) and the next thing you know you world as knew it just changed. This is our future.

I wouldnt get that concerned...yet. Police for the most part are understanding, and if you explain why you are transporting your unarmed rifle through a now "school zone" 3 miles from the school, most likely they will understand and ignore it. I have said it many times that my LEO friends have always said they appreciate the armed citizen and I had a police officer tell me that when he responded to my house after a group of unrully hooligans tried to ride their ATVs through my yard.

NY is one of the WORST states. If you are carrying concealed without a NY permit, and you are caught, it is supposed to be auomatic 1 year in prison. And, they dont honor other states permits either. I was stopped in NY once as my parents property borders PA and NY. I told the Trooper I was carrying concealed, had a PA permit, and my parents land covered NY and PA. I also told him I work for Corrections and I know what evil is, and I go nowhere without my gun. Know what he said? He looked me right in the eye and said he would NEVER go into a prison without his gun and he doesnt understand how anyone can work inside those places with nothing but a radio. He respected me, I respected him, and he sent me on his way. Never even asked to see my weapon OR my permit.

There are good guys left in the world.

My rabbits have arrived. I have a LOT of work to do.

That is why I do not advertise I have a weapon. And I will rarely volunteer the info. I keep all my papers separate from the weapon. But I also have my hands clearly visible at all times. As far as the 30rds goes I should not have to defend my choice of that. I have been a good citizen and kept my nose clean and plan to continue that way. So why should they take that from me. Its all political BS anyway.
