I still think the people that are so set against people carrying guns should wear t-shirts that say so when they go out. They should let people know that they do not want anyone but a police officer to save them against a criminal with a gun or other lethal weapons. Some crimes are prevented because criminals do not know who may be carrying a firearm. Bumper stickers on their vehicles as well. Time to put up or shut up, I say.

Just curious any takers ?

If only they would outlaw criminals from having guns. People choose how they want to protect themselves. And it should be a choice that's all I am saying. Not having to defend it every time a psycho goes on a rampage. Those cartoons are just ridiculous, no one said 6yr olds should carry. But I do believe they should be taught to respect guns and know what they can do and the seriousness of them. I showed my daughter why she should never touch my gun and the seriousness of it. She is not curious about it at all. She knows its there and she knows it is only for a real threat not just because someone makes you mad. Keeping a kids head in the sand and hiding them from truth can be a dangerous thing as well. And it also comes with responsibility. If you can afford a gun you should be able to afford a way of securing it and have the common sense to know it should never ever ever be pointed towards any human being unless for defense. Accidents can happen they shouldn't but if the business end is never pointed toward anyone.

The cartoon was meant to be ridiculous IMO Flyer, just goes to show what this tragedy brought out from the very first threads, it went from expressing sorrow to blaming everything & everyone except the nutcase that did the shooting. Somebody should have had a gun or bullet proof glass or mentally insane to they are not gonna take my guns from me & the bodies hadn't even been taken out of the building yet now they haven't been buried yet & it's a Gov. plot to what "steal my guns". Give me a break already.

I wasn't referring to you. Just that someone who can draw something like that is the scary part. Realizing that anti gun people think that's how gun owners think. I do agree and my biggest complaint is making everyone defend their beliefs instead of coming up with real solutions. I know we cant stop all but more can be prevented.

The fact of the matter is we have more guns than ever and less gun control than ever and the crime rate continues to go down. Hum, it seems to be working.

Yeah, they are ridiculous. But they are supposed to be. I can take that.

NM, I read the 3 page piece from the kind, mild, worldly, reasonable individual from ABC. My question is what is the true cost of gun ownership? I know what I think he means. And why do American fear so much? His words not mine. That is what my sister asked me rather pointedly when she found I was carrying on a daily basis. Nothing when I'm carrying I told her.
Do you suppose they were as friendly when Jack the Ripper was tearing up London? The whole British Isles are about the size of New England and they have 4 distinct groups that have fought for centuries. They still are fighting actually.
It was a feel good piece describing the miniscule odds of being in a situation requiring a gun. But it is like winning the lottery, someone is going to need that gun. And he refuses to acknowledge the times they are used to diffuse a situation and not reported or outright protect someone. He is after all working for the MSM. he did not want to get into statistics, just that we should all become kinder and accept our fate if/when the wolf comes to the door. For the benefit of the larger society, just let the wolf have his.

BAAAAAAAAA! I'll keep mine thanks.

Kevin

I am sure it has been mentioned here somewhere. But can you imagine the Black Market that will spring up and the criminalization of more people? And the boost to drug gangs and other groups who will profit from this and then we have to spend more money on incarceration and enforcement? What is that the cost of no gun ownership by Gov. breaking the Constitution?

Might sound like a stupid question but who has said anything about banning all our weapons except naturally the chicken little the sky is falling types?

Should NOT be banning ANY weapons. What we should ban is the liberals demanding GOD be removed from our schools. Look where that has got us - a 694% increase in violence since prayer was removed from school. Banning the Department of Education would help as well.

Gun control will never work. There are just too many ways to get them illegally. Control the criminal element in our society by punishing them properly such as public hanging in the County seat on a monthly basis. You shoot someone when you are committing a crime you hang. You rob a bank or someone you hang. You break into someones house you hang. As far as the Department of Education goes, I prefer to call it the Department of Stupidity.
