Coffee near Christmas 2012

Coffee near Christmas 2012

PostBy: Freddy On: Sat Dec 22, 2012 6:55 am

Good morning! All are welcome, please, come in, have a cup of Jo & spend a few words.

Bar none, this has been the most hectic week ever! Most of you know that I work from home. I always stay busy, but generally I have a pace that includes taking time for computer, or nap, or if someone stops by I always stop to socialize. Not this week! I was full screech from after breakfast until I dropped asleep every day. All is well, but between selling a house that is 120 miles away, caring for uncle Bill (who is doing OK but mostly in bed), getting actual profit work out the door, doing a bit of charity work, and finalizing paperwork so wife Marty can retire early, it's just been nuts!

I got the biggest kick out of this.... Marty has been working at the hospital going on 40 years. Because of Bill she is retiring a bit sooner than planned. This week she brought home paperwork that had to be signed by me and notarized giving "spousal approval" in order for her to retire. Oh my gosh, I laughed til I had tears in my eyes. I threatened to write a contract that I get home cooked breakfast every day for the rest of my life and cheeseburgers and grilled cheese on demand.....but she went for the verbal version. I think it went something like "Sign this and shut up!" LOL Even now I'm getting funny tears in my left eye. I'm sorry.... spousal approval? LMAO.

Today... put up a Christmas tree, kick back, relax. Ahhhhh. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. Thank you all for being a part of my life!

If you retired would your employer send home a spousal approval form, if not that is gender bias, I smell a law suit. Note to board, spring party on Freddys new luxury yacht will be announced soon. You will be picked up in his Chevy Volt and driven to the marina.

Outstanding coffee as usual Freddy. Mornin all. Snowin & blowin serious on the hill this AM. Ahhhh, the old sign it & shut up routine. Been there my friend. I had an early visit from Santa this week & I now have an excellent way of remembering what I call the old homestead. ;) Have a good week-end everyone.

Thanks for the coffee Freddy...As always, you level of commitment and compassion to Bill is admirable and astounding.

As for spousal approval; I had the same laugh when I went to get a vestectomy. You either have to lie on the paper work if you are married, or get a release from your wife. I told the Dr that it was silly; she was always threatening to lob me off there anyway if I got out of line; why the permission form! :D

I never did get one anyway which is why I have another child on the way! It is all good though. Find out if it is a boy or girl in a few weeks!

Quite the storm we had yesterday, not a drop of snow left now!

Jut sat down to my first cup of coffee for the morning. Breakfast is still in the future somewhere (funny I'm mentioning the future when so many idiots thought the world would end yesterday). We have about 3" to 4" of snow here, and winter has arrived. if Accuweather's forecasting can be trusted it looks like we will be entering about 3 straight weeks of well below normal temps here. So much for my earlier post contemplating about another non-winter.

Morning all, coffee is great Freddy, thanks. My wife is still fuming about the paperwork! She is not a fan of nurses unions having been a hospital accountant for years. Is that who the paperwork is for? I can't imagine the employer having the ability to do that!
Cold for here, no snow though. Going up to UT at Knoxville to see the Lady Vols this afternoon. Should be a good time.
Have a Merry and quite Christmas everyone!

Thanks for the coffee. This is the first weekend I haven't worked in a month. Feels good. But that didn't stop my boss from asking though, to which I replied, "This weekend? Sorry, I can't."

It snowed a bit yesterday after it rained like crazy. As for the plans for the weekend? It's a busy one. Lots of running around visiting this side of the family and that side for Christmas.

Thanks for the coffee Fred, I always have a cup with you and your breakfast croud, at times they're lined up in the driveway. I should knock more often and let you know, sometimes life gets in the way, my bad. Can't think of better folks for uncle Billy, and the food's good as well. Congradulations to Marty, don't forget her two favorite words, " yes dear ".

Top o the morning everyone! Had a howler here last night. Blew one of my empty ash cans around the dooryard. Relatively warm though but we'll see how long that lasts.

Quite a hoot about the "paperwork"! Can imagine how that would have gone over with Kim! She's due home from the UK tomorrow into Bangor. That means a little deco for the Hols to make it welcoming and prolly a bit of cleaning to! :P My old Mum manages to create quite the mess (not to mention fire hazard) just wraping presents up and trying to Christmas up the house. I've never seen anything like it. I should own stock in scotch tape is all I'll say about that! She got it in her mind this morning, because I bought some heavy thermal curtains for her bedroom, that now I can tear off the plastic window kits I did in there. Got into a tantrum over it like a 3 year old :( no matter how I tried to explain it. I'm the bad guy now for at least an hour or so. I'll have to watch her now cause she'll let the cats in there (to rip it to shreds) for a clever excuse to take it off. Of the joys of reverse parenting. :)

Freddie my man thanks to you for being a great moderator and for hosting this thread! Always look forward to a cup with you and the guys. Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas to all of you and your families. Thanks for being the pals that you are.
