So I started my hearth area demo

Enjoyed you video. Good clear speech and remarkably steady with hand held camera work.

Your tools will blend right in with the Glenwood.

I can understand that getting the Glenwood was a tough decision but the Glenwood has something that other stoves do not have. It's a work of art that will make you feel good every time you look at it whether burning or not. Best wishes and enjoy it.

Was the video too dark on your computer? I bought this camera right before I went to England in Oct. and it has 16MP and it was shot at 1080HD so large file . None of my computers process it well. So I can't really edit very easily. My old PowerBook g4 can edit and read the camera but it takes so long! And my NetBoot doesn't even read the camera. But I chose the stove over a new Mac set up so I can't complain too much ;) . I'll have to get that next.

Why not use a card reader to download?

None of my computers will recognise the card. It's a 64gb xtreme capacity.

The hearth may take the back burner for a little while again. I thought I may have it finished before the Glenwood got here but that only leaves me with about 2 more months at the most . I have decided to go full speed ahead wih my own business and try to fund as many tools for it as I can. I need to purchase a propane forge and build a coal forge . I already have my leg vise and built a custom anvil. I'm almost ready to do it part time heavily .

http://stellarsmithing.com is the web address the business name is Stellar Smithing & Design . A long with hand forging and custom fabrication I will be offer design services which include photographing spaces to render designs into so customers can see how something looks before committing . Also other services.

Anyways hopefully this hearth project will be finished before next winter though.

Thanks Franco ! I'm working a lot on it at nights . I just bought two domain names and the web space last night at like 2am so I put something up real quick . I have a lot I designs to put up. Reading LDposse's post on the WM he just picked up make me seriously consider have a run of WM 6" oval cast iron adapters made at the foundry down the st. And offering through my site. It would be a good start and something to return to the community (Nepa that is) .

I'm going to look into it this week. I should be able to make the sand mold myself and I think that's where most of the cost would lye if I had them do it.

I decided to have Doug crate and ship my Glenwood #6 . I'm way to busy to make the trip and it will just be a lot easier this way ! I'm still pretty excited about it!

Ok I got back on the hearth. I want to get the glenwood up on the hearth so . I decided to buy a slab of natural stone rather than try to mess with fitting stone together. I quoted some Hawthorne limestone but the place wanted 864$ so I went straight to the source for getting stone and I found a very blue stone . Here is a sample against my floors . Tell me what you think. I quoted for rock facing (chiseled edges) and it is 64"x40" . $437 including tax . What do you guys think of this stone?

I think it's an optical illusion Fred. The oak floors under the stone is 2 1/2" boards.(?) Nice looking stone tho Josh. Glad to see you're getting back to it.
