My grandmother used to say that when you turned 65, they should take you out back and shoot you because you weren't good for anything anymore. :)

Of course, she had quadruple bypass surgery at 75 and died at 93 so I wouldn't listen to her. :D

My hope is yours as well but another thing hit me.
With all this Anti-Gun frenzy and things like this http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2013/01/0 ... n-gesture/.

I was watching a show on the British Army a few yrs' ago and it was amazing at how difficult it is finding recruits to qualify as marksmen because they've never handled a weapon.

Is that our future? Is the Newtown shooting straw that broke the camels back so to speak?

Just read through part 4 at least. I broke out laughing so many times I had to start reading it to my wife. I think we will be buying a house after all. Maybe 2 because ownership will be the only thing tangible in the future.

I see Americans as needing to be totally self-sufficient. Meaning, they will need to grow their own fruits and vegtables and slaughter their own meat. We may still have nice things like running water and electricity, but stores will be slim pickings and gas may be impossible to get. Now, if we had someone with some balls that would drill like hell here in the states, we could solve that issue for at least the next 100 or so years, but so far no one wants to do that.

But still a democracy...in some SENSE of the word.

See above threads, we are not a democracy. Or we are not supposed to be one. Democracies always fail for the same reasons you see going on in this country today.
