No, that's YOUR wet dream. You're just too scared to pull the trigger(pardon the pun) and arm yourself. The rest of us just want to live our lives in relative obscurity and protect ourselves and those around us if the need arises.

Criticism of The Journal News, which published a gun permit database last month, broadened Friday with Rockland law enforcement officials saying the map listing the names and addresses of those with gun permits is endangering lives.
Inmates at the Rockland County jail are taunting corrections officers by saying they know the guards' home addresses -- information they got from the list published by Westchester-based newspaper, Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco said.
"Since about 9:30 this morning, I've been in a meeting with my corrections officers and their unions. They have inmates coming up to them and telling them exactly where they live. That's not acceptable to me," Falco said at a news conference Friday morning in New City, where local leaders condemned the list.
Richard S. wrote:The newspaper broke no law so I'm not sure what they would be sued for, NY currently has legislation that would prevent this information from being public but that doesn't help the people who have already had their names published.

With the internet someone should start a campaign and run that rag into the ground. Why doesn't someone publish a list of people collecting SSI, food stamps and unemployment.
That will really shake things up!

If you receive any monies for anything on your farm; whether it be for corn subsidies or just putting in a ditch to prevent soil erosion, an anti-farming liberal group places you on a list located online by state and county of what farms got how much money and in what year. Of course they do not state WHY you got the money; just place that scarlet letter on you and your farm as a way to shame you.
I have no problem with this...if you take the money you should be accountable to it, BUT that should apply to welfare recipients as well. I think we would be shocked at our friends and neighbors who are on the government dole. I just do not think it is right that we apply a electronic scarlet letter on farmers and gun owners.
BTW: If this were to go into affect, I wonder how many Occupy-(insert name of city here) protesters would have been shown to be hypocrites?plumb-r wrote:So what wins out when privacy laws and FOI laws clash.
