I think it is illegal and there will be lawsuits. The F of I A does not mean personal information can be put in a public forum. If it was a chart of where AIDS was, there would be a humongous outcry from the Liberals about invasion of privacy.

I agree, it's the people NOT listed that now have a target on them. But here's why it's not illegal and why the newspaper can get away with this:

All of the names and addresses were compiled through public records.

So what wins out when privacy laws and FOI laws clash. The answer is which ever law supports the liberal view at that time . With the internet someone should start a campaign and run that rag into the ground. Why doesn't someone publish a list of people collecting SSI, food stamps and unemployment. That will really shake things up!

I'm glad this happened, if this is going to be the result of forced registration it will effectively kill any proposals.

It was noted in the article the newspaper tried to but was unsuccessful in obtaining specific information about who owned what. Imagine seeing you name listing a giant collection of expensive firearms next to it...

That says a permit for a gun, I would think there are almost as many guns out there that nobody in Gov. knows about. Thieves might just be in for a loud ,painful surprise.
