I want to replace the aquastat. (Honeywell L8124A) Two Questions Are

1.Is it a dry well for the probe? Really don't want to drain the boiler.

2.I'm replacing a horizontal L8124A with a Vertical L8124A aquastat. Does It really make a difference as long as the Bulb is properly placed?

Looks like I have room and enough wire to mount the new vertical aquastat horizontally or vertically.

Summer/ winter hookup.

Thanks Bob

The boiler would have come with a dry well, but there is no guarantee you will be able to remove the bulb from the well. Half the time the bulb is seized in the well and you have to remove everything...which isn't the end of the world if you have the boiler at zero pressure (just drain enough water so the system isn't under pressure, then you can swap the well and only lose a little water).

Thanks Rob

Just wondering if it makes a difference replacing a horizontal L8124A aquastat with a L8124A vertical aquastat.

Have enough room and wire to mount either way.

Thanks
