I thought this was a coal forum?

Here is a good analogy. A Skinny guy walks into McDonald's and tells everyone they're fat and disgusting and they shouldn't eat at McDonald's because it's wrong . So when someone says "hey you're at McDonald's! " he replies "oh I don't eat at this disgusting place!" so everyone stands thinking, why are you here?

Why do people make it a point to be somewhere they don't want to be , why do they feel the need for people to conform all the time?

So the next time you stab yourself in the arm keep the knife in there and keep digging it a little deeper and either you will figure out one day that it's pointless to keep creating pain for yourself or you will come to your senses and pull it out .

The point and general advice to everyone is, don't continue to be somewhere you don't want to be and if you must tolerate whatever it is but wish to benefit from the knowledge that may come your way then try to do it with out creating waves and creating enemies . You get more flies with honey than you do Vinegar .

Well said, I was thinking the same thing because I did just that a yr or more ago when the crazy SOB "Devil" was on here, just ruined it for me personally. I would certainly never have complained that I didn't like a topic,... unless....we're talking about

.... Games, Jokes and other Humor.

Really??? On a Freaking Coal Forum! Who the heck likes to read, discuss and talk about Games and Jokes Etc. on a Coal FOrum...Sheesh!!

Little heavy on the Sarcasm aye?

anthracite coal is the superior fire power. but the subject does run dry, and it is interesting to read other people's views on everything, even if they are crazy!

"A troll is somebody who goes to a forum in order to annoy or irritate the other people there. Usually they do this by making a post that they know will upset the people on that forum for example if it is a forum for fans of a specific sports team they may make comments supporting a rival team. There are lots of ways that a troll can irritate the people on the site. Their goal is to lure people into an argument. In most cases they are doing this for the attention although in some cases they may be internet marketers looking to sell something.

The best way to deal with a troll is to simply ignore them. The last thing that you want to do is to respond to their post and get drawn into an argument, this is exactly what the troll wants. If you respond they will just make more comments that are intended to annoy people. However if you just leave them alone and don't respond they will eventually get bored and move onto another forum and try to bother the people there instead."

This is a great forum! Ignore the trolls if you can!

Guys,

Do not despair over the widely varying opinions and here is why.... I saw a show recently on discovery ch or some such about collective wisdom and Ill ask your forgiveness in advance if I miss quote something.

We've all seen the "guess how many jelly beans are in the jar" thing. So someone ran a test and asked 1000 people( maybe 100 maybe 5000, I don't recall) to guess the #in the jar. then they took the average of the guesses and compared that number with the closest individual guess and the average was closer to the real #. They repeated it "x" number of times and it always came out that way.

We've all heard the "truth lies somewhere in the middle" and it seems that it is true. The point being that it takes opposing ,even widely opposing viewpoints to come up with a" true-ism" . So maybe if we could accept that, then things wouldn't have to get so heated. If on the other hand the charter members would like to have a club, which is perfectly fine, where everyone feels the same on everything and no dissenting views are expressed, just post that this site is only for people with "x" beliefs and values.

I personally value the wide ranging opinions because I find new ways of thinking about things. The coal stuff is pretty cool too! :)

Regards

Waldo

Waldo, while what you say may very well be true, the fact is the OP was complaining that he has to read things he doesn't agree with and wishes the site was less far reaching in it's scope of topics.

Hence, a barrage of "Club" members who were happy to point out that you are very welcome NOT to read a discussion you do like rather than shut it down.

My question to you Waldo, do you agree with the OP's thoughts?
