Checking the burner worm bushing

If you are finding alot of coal fines in the bottom of the pot when you pull the clean-out lever, one reason is a worn out worm bushing. Below is a picture of a new worm bushing and a new gooseneck bushing. When the flights of the burner worm bushing start to wear out, coal fines will start getting into the pot which can catch on fire if the contents aren't dumped on a regular basis. The gooseneck bushing is a long life part, but it too can get worn out. If it ever needs to be replaced, it can be driven inward into the pot and be extracted or you may have to slit it with a hacksaw because it has become seized.
