My first attempt at tracking temps on the Chubby I have installed in the basement.
I'm no expert but I find stats like this interesting.
This is only several days worth of stats.
Note - I have no baro and don't plan on installing one for various reasons.
I am not logging the data at any specific interval - as I work nights and have three kids so I just take the measurements when convenient.
I'm shooting the temps with a Centech IR gun which I find very accurate.
I am shooting two places for each measurement - I measure at the top 45 angle of the 90 elbow which is approx 6 1/2 feet high and then a measure at the center of the top removable lid.
I hope someone else finds this interesting - and if not well it's teaching me how to run the stove.
Note2 - terms used - shook is shaking the Chubby with the shaker handle and poke is when I use a metal rod to get at the grate slots from the bottom as Larry had demonstrated in his video.
I may consider tracking outside temp and wind speed since my old laptop is whats next to the stove allowing me to log the data and I'm always on accuweather ~now~ to see whats going on.
If someone else has done this I'd like to see the data collected - I'm still searching the forum to see if I can find comparative logs.

It is a common misconception to think that adding more coal will produce more heat (as is the case the wood), Coal responds very slow. The depth of coal bed should be 6 - 9 inches for Nut size (it does not matter what brand coal stove your using)... to thin = unsustainable, to thick = clinkers and inefficiency. heat is produced more via air flow through the coal bed then amount of coal in the stove (this goes against everything in a wood burners brain though) LOL

Chubby is a wonderful coal burner, hope these facts help the understanding somewhat...

Thanks Doug - much of my understanding has come from this forum and a old book I go back to every now and again - Coal Comfort by Peter Hotton. It was nice to see one of the acknowledgements crediting your dad.
