Is it just me, or is Gov. Chris Christie a sniveling whiner?

To me he seems like a good candidate to bolt the Republican Party and become a Democrat. He meets all of the requirements.

He's doing what any politician in his situation should do which is try and get as much aid as possible for the people they represent. That's his job and you can't fault him for doing it.

people in his state love him with a passion though... I think he's headed for a damb heart attack if he dont change his eating habits soon!

He has done a few things I don't care for, but for the most part I like him.

There is no such thing as the perfect politician. Maybe there was, but he's been dead for over 200 years now.

I'm still convinced that charity is a private matter that should not be within the domain of government at any level. Charity from the government is charity at the point of a gun vs. from the heart.

Here's the problem lsayre, you have very large populations built up across this entire nation near areas that are prone to disasters in particular flooding. It's not a matter of choice, the need for waterways for transportation has dictated where these communities lie. The town I used to live has a population of about 5,000 people and they had to take out a 2.6 million dollar loan and raised taxes 63 percent because of last falls flooding and that only effected about 1/4 of the town. The 2.6 million dollar loan will be reimbursed by FEMA and PEMA because that was direct costs just for cleanup. There must of been 50 trucks here hauling stuff away for 1 month...

a republican politician that cares about average Americans, at least he seems to for now.all of those other selfish, greedy clowns could learn an important lesson from him.

It's real easy to talk about how the Fed Gov. shouldn't do this or that but then if it should happen to you I think there would be a different song sung. A disaster can happen anywhere at any time, sure some places are prone & perhaps should be looked at as areas that shouldn't be but the reality is there are Americans there now & they are in dire need of help. This is one case where the Fed should act IMO & Christie is just calling it as he sees it which is his style, he's doing what he is expected to do by the people that put him in office.

Everyone is missing the issue ( of course Bohner and the rest don't know how to get a message out) is the pork laden bill! If it was straight up for emergency relief it would not have been an issue. 8 Million for Homeland securty and Dept of Justice??
Fixing the Smithsonian roof THAT HAD NOTHING to do with the storm?

All it would have taken was to smack Christie over the head with these facts and re-direct their anger where it belonged then perhaps the Republicans could look relevant for once in the last 40yrs.

You got that right Ed! If the republicans were capable of getting their message out, they would have won the election and the fiscal cliff argument. But they seem incapable of doing so. People don't realize how precarious our fiscal situation is. We are very close to a point of no return. Democrats are in denial and republicans are impotent. We are truly screwed.
We are suffering from a severe lack of leadership from either party. Congress is a joke and obama is worse. At one time I thought Christie could be the leader that the country needs but I just don't know anymore. We need someone to talk directly to the people who can delver the bad news (and it is real bad) and at the same time offer the leadership to start us on a real path out of it. not likley to happen.

It's pretty clear that the entire government needs to go, & be replaced with fresh faces. Otherwise, this will go on until America is just a page in history. We're teetering on that precipice now ...

From what I read Cantor had added an amendment that removed all of the non storm related pork from the Senate version but Boehner refused to bring it to the floor. Even Cantor understood what needed to be done, that's the thing about the game is played, some won't vote to pass a bill that doesn't directly help them but it can always be removed before the final vote.
