Damn, ain't nothing sacred anymore

I carry a .380 most of the time. I carry inside the waist and cover it with any type of shirt. It's difficult to spot unless you know what to look for. I carry the P89 from time to time as well in the same manner. It's easier to spot because it's bulkier. I carry the .357 open as well as the .41 magnum.

Were it but this easy - to show these stats to dissuade those now ranting.

Those countries have the 100% gun bans BECAUSE of their murder & mayhem rate (not vice versa).

Let me start by saying I am not in favor of extensive gun control. However, though your statistics appear to make a strong argument, they are essentially dishonest even if (a big IF) they are accurate. You omit countries where the murder rate is lower than in the US, and whether those countries ban guns partially or completely, whether the bans are enforced, and so on. I expect you would find that murder rate depends a great deal on factors other than gun legality. Within a country it probably depends a lot on which stratum of society you are in -- rich vs. poor, city vs. rural, townhouse vs. ghetto -- just as in the US. So what we really need to know is, does gun control affect the murder rate within the individual segments of society, and if it does affect the rate, what forms of control are we willing to accept? All of that information is good to know, but let's present it responsibly, not by means of somebody's slanted statistics.

Plus many of those counties with very high stats are highly unstable governments and close to or in civil wars or the like. Really need to compare apples to apples with stable countries in the "first world" for lack of a better erm.

Good post Chris. I don't think it's the US that's trying it. It's evil forces that are bent on our destruction.

Of course Rberg would oppose anything pro 2nd ammendment, pro America. Funny how liberals have Oppositional Defiance Disorder with everything that's good and right. I'd like to see the crime statistics in his town. No crime, no worries. He still feels safe out in the country I guess.

I was watching a documentary on George Harrison last night. The guy was a gift to the world, dedicated to peace. A psychotic maniac broke into his house and almost knifed him to death. His own wife beat the invader on the head with a fireplace poker when he was on top of George, knifing him. Both of their instincts for self-preservation kicked in. They barely subdued the maniac. If he even had an olde English shotgun he could have stopped the guy. And on and on.

But another way to look at it is. Countries that are at or close to civil war is because of the extreme imbalance of power. Which may have been gained by disarming the citizens.

Gee Dann, I wont be so hard on Rberq! Yes, he tries to portray a moderate view but still points out that something has to be done. I have looked at mountains of statistics, and I don't much care about the stats from other countries other then the facts that they have high murder rates without guns. When you look at the US stats, the facts that guns are a miniscule problem overall is all I need to see. The response to Newtown is just an emotional rant giving the banners an opportunity to try and seize power with their hero on the throne. Long guns, in total, accounted for just over 300+ deaths in the US last year. Is this enough out of the population to make the rest of us suffer the consequences? I say no as more people were killed with hammers. Take the emotion out get real.
