Shut down or burn year round??

ran the numbers my scenario it would prob cost me an extra 70 a summer to keep the boiler going. our little electric water tank dosent use but 25-30 bucks a month. and il even tack on 10 bucks a month to account for a light bulb in the boiler. however the thought of the boiler and flue lasting longer still has me on the fence. i currently do not have an indirect hotwater hook up, looked into it tho, and it gets pricey fast. would there be any savings here in the winter time? im leaning towards no.

If you have a good coil on your boiler and have no problems with running out of hot water, an indirect is a waste of money on a coal boiler in my opinion. If you pipe your tankless into a storage tank like I did, you make your hot water off of idle. I can heat my hot water without the burner ever coming on.
