Took advantage of the 47 degree temp and did a shut down and complete cleaning. Got rid of alot of fly ash. Back up and running!

Good move! You are probably ready to make it through the rest of the heating season now.

60 here today, shut down and cleaned out also. I was surprised by how little flyash there was, always a good thing.

After seeing this post, I decided to look at the boiler. I cleaned it on New Year's Day, but looked at it anyway. Glad I did, full of flyash again. I'm not thrilled with this coal this year, tons of flyash and having consistency issues. Oh well, find me a different source next year.

I'm burning Jeddo this year. I may be great coal, but I don't think it's compatible with my boiler.
I'm having all sorts of issues I didn't have last year.

Got a TT load of Jeddo rice in 2010 that I am into just now. One rock got jammed in the AnthraKing and I couldn't figure out what was happening. Jeddo perhaps may be on my suspect list although one big rock does not a problem make, I should have noticed it, I'll be more careful now. Lot of good heat though a lot of ash is my impression. I need to do some measurements. Perhaps I need a sieve on the top of the hopper.
