Just a Big Boiler!!!!

Just a Big Boiler!!!!

PostBy: glenn harris On: Sat Jan 12, 2013 8:47 pm

Does anybody know anything about this boiler?
It's really big!!
Gas and oil fired.
New gaskets.
10 sections.
Is it worth anything or should I just scrap it?
Would the bottom be open that I could put it on a base and put a 2.6 mill btu Fire Jet under it and heat a small town?

Take it apart and remove half the sections, make it half size, then put a base and stoker under it. :D

Greg is absolutely correct. No BIG deal, make it a smaller deal! Still plenty of options. What is the number you need to make it go away, Glenn?

Be careful with than bad boy--

You just cannot remove sections randomly. You have to keep them in a certain order. Research the installation instructions for the model number of the boiler.

Second, this boiler appears it was made for only Push button fuels. Ash removal could be a problem. A stoker with automatic ash removal might help.

Third. - Be very very careful with your health. Weil-Mclain used Asbestos rope for the gaskets between sections as late as the 1970's. We end up having to test these and get into abatement projects with some of the old boiler removals.

That's a wetbase boiler, the unit must be fired thru the burner plate.
