Looking for a copy of Windows 7....

PostBy: I'm On Fire On: Sun Jan 13, 2013 8:29 pm

I'm currently running Windows 7 Ultimate N. It was given to me as a gift with an option of 32 bit or 64. At the time I had no reason for 64 bit but as more and more games use 64 bit I'd like to uograde.

I know this is a long shot but if anyobe has an unused copy of Win7 64 that they'd be willing to sell I'd be greatful as I can't afford to pay Micro$oft's prices.

well, Im not thinking anyone is going to hand a legit copy for any significant savings, they ebay for a little less which might help you somewhat? Im sure there are other ways to obtain it but im not going to venture down that road here, you would have to run your own searches.

He does, he could have set it up that way but did not at the time he received it, but he can upgrade it anytime (the problem is MSoft likes their money as much as adobe does or apple does... these company's go a different route then company's like Java or Android/droid... The younger generations know how to get around this for sure though ;) but those of us over 30 years old have to shell out the $$$$ LOL

I looked on Ebay and the prices are above what I'm willing to pay. I know eventually I'll bit the bullet and just buy it but I'm hoping to get it a bit cheaper.

Yes, Richard. My rig is 64 bit but I'm running a 32 bit OS because at the time I didn't think about the 64 bit OS. Now I regret that decision. I could always downgrade to XP 64, then upgrade back to Vista 64 then back to 7 64 but that's a lot of time consuming hoops to jump through.

Have you tried contacting MS and explaining the "mistake"?

Yes, I have considered that but they'll want me to purchase a 64 bit key at the same price as I'd pay retail.

I'm not looking for a free copy. Just a cheap or cheaper than M$ wants copy.

The ISO's you can download legit from Digital River
The link is legitimate and legal
You will need a License Key to authenticate.

There are other ways to get a key ;)

I won't post any links for that due to the rules here.

This is how I got my current copy of Windows 7, except through my brother. He just gave me a key that he wasn't using.

I'm downloading the ISO for Win. 7 Ultimate 64 now. I'm hoping I can get a key from Microsoft fairly cheap. Doubtful but it's worth a try.

That's doubtful IOF. That key is the value and that's what they are really selling. My bet is it's the same as buying the OS from them. The ISO you are downloading is just a clean copy for those who have corrupted something. Then you use your current key to activate it and get support. If your brothers key is good and it's for that same product you should be good to go. Lemme know if that works out.

Yeah, I talked to both my brother and a co-worker and they each said that the key that I have should work. I'm going to give it a try this weekend. Figured I'd do it this weekend as I have a ton of stuff to backup before hand. If it doesn't I'll try M$ and see what they say. Thanks.
